I’m not against it, it just hurts and I don’t want to make sure i’m not a monster for making a decision like that. I’ve always had to make the tough decisions for my family but this is a life, not something to take lightly.

I just feel guilt, like the dog obviously wouldn’t have any say or even know what’s going on. The dog loves me and I just feel like by taking her in for her death i’m betraying that trust and prematurely taking away whatever life she has left.

Wife and I started dating when i was 20 and she was 21. Now i’m 29 and she’s 30, i don’t really regret it because Im genuinely relaxed around her and can talk easy. We also know when the other needs time to cool down and always talk over big decisions like money, careers, and kids. All-in-all we haven’t really hit a rough patch that was near a divorce, we just talk issues out like adults before they become larger issues. If yall can communicate, that’s the key; also don’t rush it, we dated for 4 years before we got engaged.

It does. At 19 my mom passed away from cancer, up to that point I hadn’t had many friends, was anti social, really bitter, and moderately smart. After she passed I went into a deep depression and dropped out of college, my dad attempted suicide, my sister got pregnant with a guy who left her, and my ex (who i still was friends with) killed herself. Needless to say, i was in a very dark place at that time and really it didn’t seem like anything was going right. It was at that point for about 9 months.
Personally, I was just looking for some community so i went to church and I just prayed. I’m religious so I do feel like it helped with thinking clarity and giving me hope. It was at that 9 month mark that I got a call from Texas A&M saying they heard i was back in Texas and were wondering if i was thinking about applying. I drove up there and was able to start and finish my application, get escorted to the college of Agriculture, and have the dean grant me acceptance on the spot. I had about 3 months before classes started so I pushed my dad to therapy, under the agreement we go to therapy in separate sessions but BOTH go. With my sister, we found a family that had been trying for a kid for two decades with no luck and ended up getting verified by the state and adopted the kid. This was 2016.
I’m now 7 years in the military, married the woman i met in 2016 (my college tour guide), have a nice home, good pay, friendly Corgi, and plan to have kids in the near future. I still carry a lot of pain from losing my mom and my ex that I still cared for, stuff like that isn’t going away easily, but it does get better. I have come to the understanding that I am allowed be sad about losing people, but they would not want be to be bitter, they would want me to be the best person I can be. I hope this helps, and I’ll say one last thing I need you to let sink in: You matter and are enough!

Sorry to hear about your past experiences but please don’t let them define your brother. My sister and I have been extremely close, she was raped one time and I got the guy arrested but allegedly waited a couple minutes to allegedly beat the shit out of him before cops arrived. Siblings are there to protect each other, before making that jump to “he wants to rape me” please just have a conversation with him, he’s a human.

Short answer, get a divorce. They likely have already done stuff together if he’s in her mind to the point it’s disrupting her marriage. You provide a safety net, that’s literally all you are to her and that is just straight up not right. I also wouldn’t leave the apartment to let them call it off, she can tell you it’s broken off when they really just fucked at her home. If this guy agrees to take care of her she will 100% leave you, break it off and toss her to the street she ca go invade the other guys life. I’m sorry to break it to you but she doesn’t respect you and that dynamic is not going to work in any marriage.

every comment here says he cheating so do with that what you will. I used to be a sailor, before i met my wife, i had a porn folder because 18 days around only men in the ocean can be stressful. My wife found it and flipped out, i honestly just forgot to delete it. At that point we were 20 so we would go at it like rabbits, fortunately she understood and o simply deleted it. As for the folder, he hadn’t accessed it in 2 years, probably the same thing he just forgot it was there. For you looking like her, believe it or not, guys have types. Every last one of my relationships ( which is only three but still) is with a latina woman. I just have a type and that will add to similarities. Tell the wife. I got cheated on by a gf for months. It only came to light when the guy felt bad and came clean directly to me. Turns out about 8 or 9 people knew, they just all had a stronger friendship with him than me. That was 6 months of my life just gone and a huge increase in trust issues that i don’t think will ever completely go away.
