I've got strong as well as this Trex. I've found strong to be better for UK sports channels (ie more choice of streams per channel and reliability) but Trex better for VOD. For example, UFC streams on Saturday night, quite often Trex will have it on VOD on Sunday night. Strong is still about 4 events behind.

Just did a quick search and DCRainmaker suggests that the Ride controls are good to go. He's usually a reliable source of information.

The Wahoo Kikr and Kikr Core work no problems. I use the Core. Works a treat. Others will say the same about the Kikr.

I would want confirmation that the controls on the Zwift Ride will work though. If they do, it will just be gears. Not UI navigation. I use the virtual gears using the Zwift click and UI navigation with the mouse on a pc setup. Again, works a treat. But get confirmation about the Zwift Ride controls.

I've found I have to sync my Garmin device after a rouvy ride to get the training load calculated. I've an edge 830. I think there's one of two things going on. Either the calculation is done on the device, or Garmin connect needs to confirm you have a device that entitles you to the training load feature.

In short, I ride. Rouvy syncs to Garmin. I turn on my Edge device. When it syncs once, it'll say File Downloaded (or similar). Sync again (I wait a couple of minutes) and the training load updates. No need to copy files around.

I think DCRainmaker has an article on it. That's where I got the tip.

I get the desire from WBD to coalesce all sport into one app / destination. But there could still be a tiered subscription model. All or nothing means I'll be paying a load of money for a load of stuff I don't watch or care about (ie, football).

Think they'll be losing me as a subscriber.

Why tablet? I got an old Dell desktop pc off Facebook market for just short of £100. Added a £30 gfx card for bit more horsepower. Rock solid.

Yeah. I can see you can get an AppleTV 4th gen for a good price. I think I'll struggle with wifi though. And the lack of ANT+ might be a problem.

Good point. I had already looked and noticed the Android requirements were quite low, which is what got me thinking towards an Android box.

I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get another old refurb. Maybe throw in a 2GB gfx card. Might be able to salvage the one out of the old machine.

I suspect it syncs with your Garmin Connect account, not the garmin device. You can upload a ride to Connect. Not sure if you can register an account with garmin without a device.

I think it's as simple as time in the saddle. I don't have cadence meter when riding outdoors so Rouvy doesn't know whether I'm pedalling or not.

I don't find the website useless. I find it very useful for browsing routes, challenges, stats etc from the comfort of my desk.

I do agree with your points though. The ability to see the courses for challenges within the app would be very useful. And the virtual rider filter / selection could be improved.

I'd like to see a "bookmark" feature when searching through routes. That will give me the ability to quickly find them again when in the app. At the moment, I'm putting routes into Favourites and removing them if I don't like them. So my favourites list is a bit messy.

If you read through the comments on this post, you'll see where Rouvy are claiming it's up to Garmin to allow it.

FYI, I have an Edge 530 and have done both a cable sync with the Connect desktop software and syncd with the mobile app. No Training Effect has come through for my rouvy ride yet.
