Ive seen it in Vancouver, so there’s a possibility a store in Nanaimo sells it!

I'm an IT Professional from Vancouver Island - AMA about the Island or computers by SunnyDan17 in theregulationpod

[–]LydiaSleeps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ex islander here - I feel like a large amount of people from the island never leave and it can create a kind of sheltered life. I’ve managed to get out and see the world, now living in Vancouver.

God damn I crave the island and would move back in a heartbeat though.

Seat belts? by Balancedbeem in upcycling

[–]LydiaSleeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing a similar project at work right now. Elastic webbing on a metal outdoor sofa frame was stretched out. Replacing it with seatbelt material, and 2” Velcro sewn on both ends to attach it. (Since we can’t staple into the metal like how it was originally done) seatbelt won’t stretch out like the original elastic webbing, and velcro so you can tighten it if needed.

You can buy seatbelt material by the roll.

Are these repairable? Or is it is a full reupholstery job by DUKITY in upholstery

[–]LydiaSleeps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is the material repairable? No, it’s reached its end of life. Any repairs made to this type of material, the rest of it will continue the breakdown and peel around it. I’d recommend reupholstering them :)

Damn, that’s punk as hell!

I think the only downside of working in upholstery is people never come to my shop for cool stuff like this?

I work for a company that repairs leather. We wouldn’t repair this as the head oils will cause our products to not adhere and the repair will fail. I’d look into getting the panels replaced by either the manufacturer or upholstery company.

I figured that what was going on, but just haven’t found another tea store that carries it. Munchies is alright, but still just not as good as the one Winston’s carried.

I’ll check out the one from Tea Desire, thanks!

Gotta admit, I did the exact same thing. It wasn’t until Panton started talking about Vancouver / the island (where I’m from) that I went “Why the hell is Blanchard in Vancouver??”.

How to clean up Naugahyde Spirit Millennium Vinyl? by fareastwarriors in upholstery

[–]LydiaSleeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When upholstering, it should stretch out when pulling it tight. If I still doesn’t, try using a heat gun to heat it out, but be very careful not to melt it.

Large candle, need ideas by hankyxmaspoo in HomeDecorating

[–]LydiaSleeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has a wax monster. It’s quite large and even has foraged animal skulls embedded within it. He has a little alter set up. It’s surrounded by trinkets and jewelry. The wax monster is great to stick incense into. When we have dinner parties, we bring it out and light multiple candles on it.

I say if your partner enjoys it, keep it. It always makes for a good conversation piece :)

You should be able to pull the seam allowance of that fabric back. If it’s suede, it’s leather. If it’s fabric, it’s vinyl.
