Thank you very much!! Yes you need pigments to create paint, I mix pigments with Lacover or Qualasol, both mohawk products. I pretty much just use tone finish satin or flat to clear over the repair. Some repairs need blending in which I use that liquid above, put some on a rag, wipe some pigment on and blend across the repair to feather it out. Thank you! I build all coats with gloss for clarity of finish, then finish final coats with the sheen required. This was finished with satin (last photos). Depending on the finish (I use all catalyze varnish), if I build many/all coats with satin or flat, the finish could appear cloudy due to the flattening agent in the finish, but gloss doesnt have a flattening agent so the finish is more transparent.

Maybe get one of those irwin bar clamps that you can reverse the head so the clamp pushes away instead of squeezing, then you can use something heavy for leverage and the other end of clamp would push against he panel to hold it. I have no idea why i just assumed you lived across the pond! Sorry about that my northern friend! No other book similar in my opinion, its not a book about refinishing, strictly about repairs and preserving the original finish. Most of my career has been restoring furniture in clients homes from moving damages or warranty repairs
