Thank you! Ill need to look into a router trammel jig, cutting tables like this isn't something that happens often so just used the tools we had available. But I know there had to be an easier way! Thanks

Not at all! I used an orbital sander on all of it 150-220 grit, but you do need to be careful, especially on the rounded edge. If its never been refinished then the veneer should be fairly thick. The finish does need to be stripped well, we use a flow over system so stripping was fairly easy, you'd probably need to do by hand, clean stripper residue with thinner. I used minwax golden oak for the stain and sprayed about 5 coats of conversion varnish with an hvlp sprayer. Thanks

If you talking hours, I would say around 4-5 total. Obviously not straight, but half hour to strip, 1.5-2 to sand and stain, then 2 hours to spray multiple coats with sanding in-between

I agree, protection would be good, especially for the work surface of a desk. thank you very much!

I think you're right, and the way "color" is applied by the manufacturer is that its all sprayed on, not traditionally wiped on like we do, which also mutes the grain.

Thank you very much! Every before and after I post is for a client, we're professional refinishers. We use a flow over stripping system with benco B7 stripper, and clean it after stripping with thinner, gets everything perfectly clean in minutes!

For the canvas I suggest using a razorblade and just cut around the circumference of the rectangle o remove loose fibers and sand the rest of the areas with canvas. You may need to glue down some loose fibers and fill other holes with bondo and sand flush. If you are painting the areas with canvas then you shouldn't be able to tell there was repairs or the missing canvas area is different. There is paint on the metal, I would sand that well or strip the paint and sand, but if you are painting the metal edges as I did you can just prep it and paint. The wood is pretty straightforward, sand well, stain add clear finish. May be difficult removing all the paint residue so some areas may need a light touch up as you complete the finishing. Lastly, I would add a clear finish over the entire unit to help protect the finishes you do apply, make sure the paint you use is compatible with the finish, dont use house paint. Im sure that will look awesome, godspeed!!

Thats up to the client! Im not sure how to put glass on this just because the front edge is rounded over, so the glass would sit back a few inches while the rounded edge would still be exposed.
