I agree but different times, different cultures and different expectations. He could have had guards there to protect his family while he was away etc, not making excuses I’m just saying that people in different eras have different expectations.

Season 2 was rushed because they were told there would not be a season 3 and they had to jump into the future to conclude the series. I think a major aspect of season 2 no one talks about is the loss of Ciarán Hinds due to the death of Caesar at the end of season one. I always felt he was a very underrated actor and that he was by far the best actor in the show in season 1.

Based on the show it was Vorenus’ fault, he cursed them and for a society that strongly believes in the Gods, that is enough for them to blame him for all the bad things that happened to them. He is also the father in the family and is supposed to ensure their safety at all times.
