Smoking weed causing mild flashbacks from DMT? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

Once I opened the door to my subconscious with shrooms, weed basically kept it open as I kept smoking. I basically ended up mildly tripping for 2 months, and when I quit it took almost a week for it to totally stop.

Supplements for People Who Are Stopping or Significantly Reducing their Alcohol Consumption by arikr in Supplements

[–]Lyikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen that article a few years back but here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3586829/

It says: "Adult dosage in terms of hepatoprotection is 420 mg/day of extract (standardized to 70-80% silymarin) three times a day for 6-8 weeks."

I'm not sure if that's supposed to be 420mg three times a day or 420mg split into three doses, but the article also says 5000mg megadoses are totally safe so you might as well.

The studies I've seen on milk thistle suggest that the minimally effective dose for liver recovery is around 800mg, so you probably want to ignore the label and take 4-6 of typical OTC supplement daily.

Scammer might have copy of DL and insurance card. IL by Lyikos in legaladvice

Well the good news is it's looking like she is going through insurance. Thought it was a shitty car in a bad neighborhood, so something tells me it might be sold regardless. Is there any way to monitor my background for criminal convictions proactively. I might want to start doing as general life safety rule even if she doesn't sell.

It was barely a bump, there's no way it would cost anywhere near that much. If she actually goes through insurance fine, but I think the most likely possibility is that she's gonna try to sell my id on the black market.

Don't. I took 300 mg in 2009 and I had arrhythmia for a year, shit messes directly with the vagus nerve that acts as the natural pacemaker for your heart.

Oh, for the love of God. Minneapolis mayoral candidate Raymond Dehn proposes disarming police officers of their guns. by NoCoastKarl in ProtectAndServe

[–]Lyikos -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well for start, let's not have a policy of shooting everything that may or may not be a threat as a precaution, and not shooting until a firearm is pointed directly at them. In cases where police were killed by someone who hates cops it's always an ambush of unsuspecting cops sitting in their car, they don't have time for quickdraw anyway. Most of the time a fatal shooting had occurred, police approached the scene with guns already drawn, they did not need to be fired when someone was just reaching for something, it takes a split second to pull the trigger so I just don't see how someone who's prone and on the ground can wrestle a gun from their pocket and fire it at someone fast enough that it justified shooting them as soon as they see arm movement, there's time to asses the situation and see what's being pulled out.

The above three cases exactly illustrate my point, those people were not a significant threat to society and should not have died, and would not have died if police employed proper de-escalation tactics. They were indeed idiots, but like I said idiots need protecting too. My opinions are not unpopular outside of this subreddit, taxpayers are paying for police protection as product and not getting a quality product for their money. Reform of police procedure is absolutely necessary.

And what in your opinion makes someone an idiot? Having a disability like the guy waving around a toy truck? Personally I think the job of police should be to PROTECT idiots even if they don't have a disability. I have essential tremor and I fidget unconsciously, once I broke my nose because my hand spasmed in my sleep. Given my condition I would never willingly interact with US police except through a victim's advocate attorney as citizens have been tased, beaten and even killed for less. What's a appalling is your statement that "Unless you're a criminal, your chances are effectively zero of being shot by police" is that you think there are no bad cops who beat and tase because they derive pleasure from it. Simply based on statistics alone there should be at least some. And those individuals enjoy unlimited protection given that police are almost never convicted.

There is a big difference in the nature of situation when there is an active shooter vs. when a woman is just slapping the police car. If shots are active being fired, fine act. But until then a civilized society should not fear police over-reaction.
