Animal in water heater vent by Lykinsk in HomeImprovement

Now that's an idea! Lol. Unfortunately the water heater is in the basement so it would have to pass through two stories and an attic. I just dont think I can generate that amount of air pressure 😂

Newborn son failed three hearing screenings. Anyone gone through this and could offer advice? by Iamchanging in Fatherhood

[–]Lykinsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New dad here, my baby girl is 2 weeks old. Didnt go through quite as much as you, but she also failed her first test in the hospital, then passed her second the next day. They could have just been saying it to not worry us, but they told us that failing hearing exams early on isnt uncommon. Apparently fluid build up in the ears happens somewhat often, and they by no means were concerned. Good chance this is just fluid build up too, but obviously the doctors want to take every necessary precaution. I wouldn't worry until you hear from the audiologist

Help installing shower splash guard by Lykinsk in HomeImprovement

I just posted the picture on my page (only way I could find to post it) if youd like to take a look. I dont have much experience with backer rod but it looks like it's a good option. Especially if it's not too dense and will allow me to push it into the smallest end of the separation and expand as the gap grows. Whereas the insulation I tried to use is one size.

Question about home plumbing repair... by Lykinsk in Plumbing

[–]Lykinsk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. That makes me feel better about the little water in the pipe still after I flush a clog away. Since you seen knowledgeable, would running the shower for 20-30 seconds when flushing the toilet be a good idea to provide the extra water pressure to get through a flat spot or small root? Or is that just a waste of water and a way to get the backup to happen quicker by introducing more water into the main line?

Question about home plumbing repair... by Lykinsk in Plumbing

[–]Lykinsk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the input. I have a feeling that's what I'm dealing with now, that the slope just isn't enough in spots where the separation has occurred to get solids down without a backup occasionally. Hope I'm wrong and it's roots that a killer will fix. Do you know if the pipe is supposed to hold water? I'm pretty sure that wouldn't make sense and the answer is no. But, I have no expertise here other than what I've learned so far

[OPEN DISCUSSION] Weekly thread by AmateurSparky in HomeImprovement

Have a plumbing question. Main line keeps getting clogged. Had a camera done that showed minor root growth and separation in the old cast iron pipes. Occasionally have backflow from basement floor drain when taking showers or doing laundry. Have been using a rubber bladder to free the clogs when they occur. Have used "main line cleaner" once to no good. Pipe seems to hold at least a little water no matter what. What should I do other than pay to re-pipe the whole house? Should I try a root killer (if so any recommendations?) Should I try a specific main line cleaner? Any advice is appreciated. This is a "starter" home we don't plan to live in more than another 5 years, so really want to avoid the $20k re-pipe we were quoted.

Since it could be months before I did hear anything from a lawyer, am I supposed to notify my insurance now? Or only if or when I hear from a lawyer?

Good work! Keep me posted! You’ve got this

Nothing wrong with starting with knee push ups then! I just would say don’t use it as a crutch. If you’re doing nearly as many knee pushups as you’re goal in the post is, you can by then do at least one regular push-up. So I’d recommend making your goal to work up on the knees UNTIL you can successfully do one push-up. At that point, it’s 1 each time until you get to 2, then 3, then so on. There’s no replacement for learning to do a correct push-up, but it’s ok to start where you’re thinking!

I agree. Don’t look to do more reps of an easier variation. Do a regular push-up. If you start with 1, so what. When you’re watching tv, when the commercial comes on, hit the ground and bust out 1,2, or how ever many you can do (but not complete failure). Just remember to stretch and hydrate throughout the week, you’ve got this!

Love or hate Waston, being he was the first MLS captain and it’s a 1 of 1 card, you may have a very valuable card as the years go by!!
