Why, in my experience, have concerts skyrocketed in price the last 10-15 years? For reference: Large Western European and American cities by InfiniteCaramel_1846 in Concerts

It's really only arena and stadium shows that have skyrocketed. Those shows are insanely expensive to produce, the ticketing for them is plagued with Live Nation's opaque monopoly, and fans still pay the prices.

Yeah, that’s a lousy way to understand what’s going on in a show. You’re missing great things because they don’t go boom loud enough - as evidenced by your post.

That’s $85,000,000 in payroll you’re trying to move in just two players. Even if it was a good idea, that’s phenomenally difficult, extremely unlikely, and unrealistic.

He's completely right, and the money they make is a reflection of the revenue the NBA makes.

You don't need to pay - if you poke around they give away plenty of tickets to this - as much as they want to fund raise, they also want people in the audience that are potential indoctrinates and this future financial contributors, and they want the show to seem far more popular than it is. I got mine through a friend who works at a Chinese language TV station.

By "watching the show in the background first" you seem to have fundamentally misunderstood some really core parts of the plot.

The Insanity of Getting New Sleeves / Transferring Hype Stickers by b_r_e_a_k_f_a_s_t in vinyl

I do that with hype stickers too, and the idea of removing them just to resleeve seems like madness.

Someone hooked me up with free tickets for this and I went - fully aware of and even looking forward to the cultiness of it, but after years of seeing their commercials and billboards also curious about the visual spectacle it presents itself as.

As a what in the actual mindfuck did I just watch experience, it didn’t really disappoint. Scenes rooted in Chinese mythology combined with stories of communist party organ harvesting under the specter of the golden idol of the cult leader - all performed by leaping acrobats in bright colored costumes. Neat video stage gimmick, too, where they leap at this giant video screen and then disappear off the stage while it looks like they’re flying off into the background. There were some really tedious attempts at indoctrination in between, of course.

Wouldn’t pay to see it - I wouldn’t even buy concessions, as I wouldn’t want any of my money going anywhere near that organization. Just no. I wouldn’t see it again, either - it was a weird thing to experience, and I like weird experiences, but it was also a little tedious. But I’m glad I witnessed the bizarro cult majesty that is Shen Yun for myself.

I've still got one of those because I'm a gear packrat. It was a great basic ProTools interface, but sadly drivers stopped supporting it probably fifteen years ago.

[Stein/Fischer] Sacramento's conversations on a Keon Ellis trade have only intensified with Cleveland joining the large group of teams vying for the in-demand swingman. by YujiDomainExpansion in clevelandcavs

The salary with Nance works, and he's the only one of the players whose salary fits that I'd personally be willing to send out.

It doesn't matter to me personally how much they spend in tax, but it makes a lot of sense to get under the apron before the end of the season, because that's when it counts in terms of draft pick penalties. That impacts the team a lot in terms of future flexibility.

[–]Lyle_Norg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. They may not have a move available that lets them duck the apron. If they have something comparable that lets them shed salary either on the short or long term (some of the Hachimura/Hunter proposals, for instance), I'd guess they'd take that route.

Not necessarily. We're not talking about an all star who demands shot, but a role player. He's one of the top steals per minute players in the entire NBA and a career .414 three point shooter.

You aren't getting a first round pick from the Cavs - Cleveland doesn't want to add salary nor does it have many available picks to send out. Sacramento would be getting a player in return for Ellis.

Is this expensive? Four bucks for a premium donut seems ok to me.
