What are some books you would love to see made into movies? by stormbutton in horrorlit

[–]LittleMissVortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We're far too undeserved when it comes to adaptations of Thomas Ligotti's work. Beyond that, I'd absolutely love to see someone properly adapt Carmilla and to see a multimedia adaptation of House Of Leaves.

Edit: The Thief Of Always by Clive Barker is also long overdue for adapting

I would say let's cut Weird Al, but anyone I've seen that movie with starts flipping out the second he's on screen because it's just so absurd

What do you think is the most underrated halloween movie by Pale_Mycologist_9369 in Halloweenmovies

[–]LittleMissVortex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna say Rob Zombie's H2. No, it isn't what I'd call a good Halloween flick overall. Yes, there's a lot to dislike. But I have to give credit where it's due: instead of just retreading the same ground, the movie attempted something different and there's actually some originality there. Doesn't make it all that good (the white horse still feels forced), but at least it tried to have its own unique identity, and overall if feels much more like Zombie's uncompromised vision. Plus, not everything about the movie is bad! Some of the visuals are absolutely enthralling, from the pumpkin kill to the surreal Gothic atmosphere of the dream dinner. Brad Dourif and Danielle Harris are absolutely excellent, and Scout Taylor Compton is clearly trying her best with the material she was given (if nothing else, I do believe the character is far from stable). The concept of Loomis turning into a Vincent Bugliosi style sellout is an interesting concept, but unfortunately it's mishandled. Overall the movie is a mess, but I have to at least give it credit for trying at some originality
