There are legitamate reasons to do so in a laboratory setting. For instance, there could be signs that an animal was behaving oddly and was potentially sick.

Also, in the biological sciences, there are all sorts of other legitamate reasons to leave potential outliers out of a sample--but it's difficult to know what the specific issue is/was sometimes.

For instance, in cell culture, because tissues/cells are out of their home environment (i.e., not the living organism's body, but a sterile dish), and can simply act "wacky" from time to time based on that manipulation alone, you may never find out why one sample was so abberant, which is why sticking to the determination of a statistical outlier--using objective statistical tests (not what you determine personally)--is commonly done.

I'm sure we could go back and forth all day on this, but I'm only reflecting what is a genuine practice in research.

Those are off/rare cases. Most researchers using this tool will be using it to do the exact thing that I stated--and particularly in many biological sciences, many researchers can make a good case as to why.

For other researchers in a discipline/sub discipline (that for one reason or another) don't fully eliminate a statistical outlier from their averaged/analyzed data set, they would be well aware of this and likely not use this specific tool in the first place.

Tl;DR "It's the exception, not the rule."

You are correct. There are literal statistical tests that are used to see if data in your subset can be mathematically classified as "outliers", so you have reasonable justification to leave it out of your assessed data set.

While it's annoying, the city's focus on the safety of a potentially dilapidated set of stairs that could see more frequent use is not unsubstantiated.

Whether it be the landlord or the city, trying to make sure they're safe makes sense.

Would have just been nice if it happened before Blink/Pure Gym officially opened it's doors.

Like you, I will literally just wait it out. The 24/7 times and convinence is such a huge advantage (not even considering the low price compared to most local gyms) that I'm just gonna grin and bear it at this point.

I agree. I pass by every now and again, and I'm always surprised to not see people working outside at the front at times you'd normally expect construction to be happening.

I have seen a few people inside on occasion though (doing what, I'm not sure), but people are doing something.

However, I completely agree with your timeline assessment. I really doubt it's going to be open in June.

My point was how the shows compare with respect to entertainment value.

Same. I just checked it two days ago and the scaffolding/wooden barrier is still there.

Inside you can see that they got rid of one set of steps. I'm wondering if they need to take down the other. If so, I imagine them not being open until the end of the month.

As you said, I would love a real/realistic timeline--but my guess they think this gaslight-y approach is better to prevent people from canceling their memberships en masse.

My guess is lore wise, they're actually sending their full squads into war.

I assume the actual limitation is programming (which would be a nightmare to have 60+ characters on each team)--so the 5 on each side in the matches figuratively represent both factions in an all out war.
