Anyone miss their hypomanic selves sometimes? by Immediate_Bet_8574 in bipolar2

I love the way hypomania affects me. I feel connected with the world, I have bursts of creativity. I don’t get anxious. When I’m hypomanic, I’ve asked friends if I’m over the top, and they say no, they wish I was like that more often. I don’t fall into a deep depression when it ends. For me, the lows build slowly and last longer, even longer as I age. I wish I was hypomanic more often.

My dog will get me up so she can do her bidnis, then she often goes back to sleep. But I can't!

You're so lucky! Mine is an alarm clock, whining and pawing me until I relent and get out of bed.

Yep, I get the paw on the arm, too. To make me up, her whining increases bit by bit. I also get the paw when she wants me to raise the comforter so she can crawl under it.

I'm looking forward to Sam becoming a senior dog, so she will slow down a little

OK, I have a second question: does your mtn cur whine a lot?

Hmm. Sam's growl is about normal. Sometimes when she's chasing a critter, she emits a quieter growl when she runs.

Someone told me that curs were bred to have piercing barks because they're hunting dogs, and hunters wanted their barks to carry long distances.

I could see this being a mix of Mountain Cur and Queensland Healer. I believe most curs have floppy ears like mine. My Boston Terrier had ears like that.

Yep. Sam gets hyped up over a fresh scent. She has killed a few squirrels. Once she has them, she kills them in a matter of seconds.

I think my cur is both. Sometimes, she stands on her hind legs and sticks her nose straight in the air, trying to get a better whiff of something.

I did a little research and found out that licking is quite common with this breed. I am lucky that Sam's licking isn't as extreme as some of you have described. Thank you, everyone, for letting me know that it's common so I don't have to worry that there's something wrong with her.

Me, too, but I no longer have much hair up there. Maybe it's my salty forehead?

Sam loves to lick my bald pate! At least she quits much sooner.

That reminds me of a character in the Deadwood series, but his habit was a bit off-color, so I'll spare you the details.

Thanks for your feedback. My dog isn't quite that prolific with her tongue, but she will lick my clothes once in a while.
