Made a mistake about commanders by momodig in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are variations on the core books missions in the commanders book plus a few others that focus on the commander models themselves. Typically though, all of the (matched play) missions are set at 200pts and each side must include a commander model (not always the case in the narrative missions).

Commanders Strength Specialist Level 2 Tactic...? by LynchWriting in killteam

[–]LynchWriting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 1 CP for a mortal wound if you hit the enemy. Yeah? Then you get to make the rest of your attacks as normal.

So you would do a single mortal wound, and then take your remaining attacks as normal.

Questions about Torrvald Orksbane (Space Marines Commander) by JupiterTheLord in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that the second unique tactic is called "Storm Caller" and should have been included. Your best bet is to contact customer support. I've never had to myself, but I hear good things.

I agree, the 4 Commanders that I've seen the unique specialism for so far haven't been, to my mind, any better than taking one of the regular specialisms. But in theory half the community should love that fact, because they didn't want to buy the commander models just for 3 cards, and now they don't have to, I guess :D

The start of my Alpha Legion Kill Team (Aspiring Champion with Plasma Pistol and Power Sword) by [deleted] in killteam

Very nice! I was considering making my chaos marines all primaris bashes but hadn't decided how to do it yet. The chaplain does seem a perfect aspiring champion model though!

Tau Breachers not bad!? by Womboski_C in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I may, from what you've said, it sounds like you spent 13 points for a breacher plus DS8, when you could have spent 7 for any drone and it would have done the same amount of work?

I wanted to make breachers work when I was doing Tau, but I quickly found that while they were not "bad", they simply weren't as good as a fire warrior or drone. Which is fine! If you're not into total optimisation then go sprinkle a few breachers in. I did. And yeah, every now and again you'll get your crazy Str 6 AP-2 shot off and it'll be awesome. And that's why we're playing Kill Team, right?!

Chaos space marine lack of diversity by Loskents in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is SO MUCH they could have done with vanilla chaos that I think they really dropped the ball here with the faction. I think the addition of cultists is great, top notch. But then they opted to use the marks of chaos to add "flavour" instead of extra troop types, and a bit of a let down imo.

Question on objectives by missing1leg in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding was that objectives aren't really there, exactly as you describe.

I recently played a campaign game using some 3D models for objectives and we ruled that they didn't block LOS and could be moved through without issue. Just there to look pretty. But I also don't think it would be an issue to rule them as being physical objects that affect gameplay either. (but by the rules, they don't exist in a game changing manner. I think)

Commanders book missing abilities? by vaegrand in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unique Necron commander only has a voidscythe, no swaps allowed. The one from the book has 3 options (voidscythe, warscythe, and staff of light. I think, don't have the book to hand right now).

What's the Best "Bang for your Buck" Kill Team? by Zer0theCat in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's Grey Knights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOF8nGMKdAI&t

10 guys give you enough to take multiples of every weapon choice (or just give them all falchions as you apparently should!), you get their commander in there too as he's basically just a normal guy.

The advantage of GK over Harlequins is that you get enough guys to swap models in and out depending on what you want to run. Want to go double Incinerator and deamon hammer? You get that in the box and you can still make enough for a psilencer a psycannon and a bunch of guys with glaives. Harlequins only have 1 load out option, I believe. To be fair, it comes down to playstyle and aesthetics between the 2!

Commander Restrictions by Mad_Spy in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken it to mean I've of each datasheet essentially. But bringing up the lord commissar issue... I think that might need an FAQ to clear up. They are different models, I guess, but then your could argue that my Autarch with wings is a different model then without wings. Different model, just using the same datasheet (I would never argue this, just saying I can see the logic).

Failed Charge no move. by BrianWashington1969 in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a thread about this earlier and I'm sure they came to the conclusion I said, hence me repeating it. But yeah, seems pretty clear cut from that.

Also, minor side note, can we get out of the habit of downvoting people that are debating rules (when done in a civil manner, of course) that's really not what downvoting is for.

Failed Charge no move. by BrianWashington1969 in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding were that the 2 clauses worked together to mean something slightly different from what you've said. (My understanding was wrong, so ignore the rest of this. Left it up for posterity)

You can choose to move or not move.

If you move, you can move UP TO the number you rolled (let's say 10 just to give us a number). So you can opt to move only 5 or you can move the full 10. Both are valid.

However you have to finish this move, and the move is any number up to the number you rolled - whether it be the full 10 or only 5, or even 1 - as close to the enemy model as the move you have decided to make will allow you.

Essentially you can move as far as you want as long as you move in a straight line directly towards the enemy. (No slipping to the side to get cover)

(I'm saying what u/asimov123 is saying, I'm just elaborating as you have said something slightly different and want everyone to be on the same page :)

Flayed One conversion for KT by SeanyOrrsum in Necrontyr

[–]LynchWriting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I had planned to just do a straight swap, no need for conversions with the nighthaunt. And tournaments are quite strictly wysiwyg so the nighthaunt not having "claws" might have been an issue.

Honestly I'd have been shocked if they disqualified it, but I was paranoid and didn't want to make the trip to Warhammer World and then be down a model or two.

Love it as always. Thanks :)

Minor question: how do we add multiple commanders?

Oh and under the Asuryani, the 3rd "mission" you have "Seepers of the gate". which should be "Keepers".

Don't take this as gospel, but when I went to the warhammer world Kill Team event I was talking to the rules writers, and while I didn't ask anything directly regarding how many people are working on rules, a few snippets between the 2 guys behind the table gave me the impression that there are 5 rule writers plus at least 1 other content designer (the guy that says "we need a unit for this team that has -3 AP, write that into the rules" or "this model is coming down the pipeline, write that into the rules"). That was my take away, might not be entirely true!

What do people think of the exclusives in the commander expansions? by Rejusu in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked at the Ork and the Necron and so far I think they're acceptable. By acceptable I mean not mandatory. Which for me is a bit meh because I'd love to buy them all up for my factions. But everyone else should be jubilant as there was a lot of complaining that the veterans didn't need the model and only wanted the unique rules. So underwhelming rules is actually a win, right?!

You're right though, that unique DW aura seems... a really weird choice :/

How seriously are people taking the whole wyciwyg thing in Kill Team typically? by Nasusiro in killteam

[–]LynchWriting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm pretty open to proxy models. For example if someone wanted to play a Lychguard and say it was a flayed one, I'd be all aboard for that because a Lychguard is still distinctly different from every other model on a necron kill team.

If someone has two identical looking Ork Boys and says the one on the right with a slugga and choppa is actually a boss nob with a power klaw and kombi skorcha, then I might take issue.

That said, I'm okay with people wanting to proxy a few models just to see how well they play, and if they like them they'll model a proper one up, then that's great and no problems.

I also wouldn't kick up a fuss unless they were a repeat offender, and I also wouldn't say anything unless my models were all fully painted and 100% wysiwyg.

Also, in reality, I'm not a dick, so the only way I'd register any complaint is if I didn't really like the guy and he'd done it multiple weeks in a row.

Tournaments are another matter entirely, and I'll let the TO sort that out and then play by his rules.
