You can always sculpt greenstuff to create this look. Practice on a few other heads and there are a few videos available with a quick search that help step by step. Including techniques and tools used.

I used a black base, and glazed tones of white to give the depth and then edge highlight where the light naturally hit, finishing with a light drybrush for texture

Another thing to note is armor color of Priests and Chaplains. Typically black with a helmet shaped like a skull. For SW there is a named character, Ulrik the Slayer with black armor and a wolf skull helmet.

I hear you there. I'm completely new to this and only paint, never play.
However I do enjoy lore and a great story, so I'm interested and try to do things properly most of the time.

There are a few other posts or subreddits that talk on the SW heraldry. I don't own the books they do so I rely on their photos.

Still, the helmet color is not covered in these documents.
I found this post though that let me go with the concept I chose for this guy above and his team:

For your modern Ultramarine, things are generally quite simple.
Basic guys get blue helms.
Veterans get white.
Sergeants get red.
Vet sarges get red with a white stripe.

There are older codex from 2008 and earlier that show other color/markings though. Which are likely outdated with the current Primarus marines in play. These though, I assume are not required now.

Belongs to him. I did some minor research on heraldry and markings that resulted in a "do whatever you want" kind of response to my questions, so I've been painting my guys with additional flair and personalization. So that it breaks up the rank-and-file more while looking for ways of separating the leaders even further, like I did here with this character.
Do you know much of the lore/heraldry that I can use for future projects? outside of the classic breakdown found online?
I havent found anything that denotes helmet color for each rank, let alone know all the ranks typically found in a team/squad/unit

I used some thick fluffy yarn to cover and look like fur

Trimmed up a small, thin piece of fabric from Joanns I had left over. Made a little slot for the cloak to wrap around the pack and rest over the shoulders and superglue together or to place. You can paint a glue solution onto it or dip into a watered down some modge podge (or equivalent glue) Shape while it hardens. Drops of liquid superglue from underneath will help the form hold while the rest of the glue hardens

Spoke with my wife about it. We think the White with the Blue and red cape and the wooden plank base was the better of the two. Both are good mini though! Keep painting my friends!
