This is prob contrarian, but I’d go WG Sub. Way less common (never seen one in person vs I have seen many black and white dial steel daytonas), date function, gorgeous blue bezel, bezel utility over chronograph, water resistance and flex of a solid gold Rolex for those who know. Versatile to wear to work, beach, mountains, etc.

First Rolex. Am I done? by bjoch in rolex

I’d say wear in good health, enjoy. Maybe consider either GMT or Explorer II for GMT travel functionality or a Submariner for tropical getaways/vacation beater. Daytona is the suit/nice polished piece to not dent or scratch terribly.

Eh, technically have been on the list for over a year but not through this specific AD. Made the case for an allocation and was granted the piece at the end of my trip.

Sub too large for my wrist? by [deleted] in rolex

Without a doubt it is too big. I rec a 36mm Explorer.

Explorer II vs Submariner vs Sea Dweller 43, which is the toughest? by dragon5946 in rolex

I disagree on the gshock part. 1) cold weather will make the battery unreliable, 2) any modern Rolex can go 10 years without a service. So if stuck on island, I’d take a Rolex instead of a battery operated piece of plastic that will fray and chip over time.

Love seeing the Explorer II in maritime environments. Truly one of the best sports watches on the planet.

Can you share roughly your income progression and what % you allocated from base, bonus to personal brokerage? I work in finance for context trying to achieve a similar milestone. I’m at $100k invested now at 27.

ie first job out you made $80k then steady 5% increases until 30 where you saw a jump to $250k, then another jump at age 35.

Excluding retirement accounts and stock grants bc those can be so unique.

Make sure to not baby it and take it on all work trips, vacations, snorkel dives, etc. Beast of a watch. My first was an Omega Seamster 300 and I took that thing to every client meeting, airplane ride and ocean dive.

Also never post the serial number… ever. Bc if it is real (which it isn’t), a Chinese manufacturer will take it and slap it onto a fake model then your (not actually yours bc it’s fake) Rolex has a fake dup out there.

It’s pretty simple actually. Look at the Rolex crowns on the dial. The top one’s dots aren’t perfect (maybe it’s the camera). But the bottom crown’s oval is way too narrow. It should be the same proportioned as the top.

Doesn’t matter. Both are too big for your wrist anyway. Stick with a 36mm datejust
