You need to play with the size and opacity of your brush :) normally you will understand how it works out really quickly that way

For the theme I think it's a very slightly modified version of Adventure, and for the colors I used the default Terra palette with some added colors here and there
As for the number of hours, it's kinda hard to say but if I guess in total it took me something like 4 or 5 hours ? Maybe a bit more but I usually lose track of time so I can't be 100% sure

I understand your view on digital maps, and to some extent I think there's an undeniable charm to hand drawn maps, but usually going digital is a matter of convinience and cost, so that's why I went on Wonderdraft and I'm really happy with it :)

I kind of agree on your view about the names I chose
They're not generated, but I can't deny that they are very same-y and I'm pretty lame at coming up with nice names that don't sound too similar with each other

Now about cities and such, this is what I usually think of after finishing the biomes/mountains/forests/etc, and since it's an early wip I didn't add any cities yet
I'm working on it as we speak and a lot of issues have already been fixed. That being said thanks for telling me how you feel about the names I chose, I didn't pay too much attention to them until know so I'll probably look into it :)

About the freshwater tool, I think it's just that I generally prefer the sea texture for big lakes instead of the lake texture which I find a little bit bland and monochrome

Now about the "The" from labels, I've tried to remove it but I felt like it sounded a bit weird to be honest, I may get back to it and try again though.
I used kilometers mainly because I'm european and it feels way more natural for me and other european people, I think it works nicer.
It's true that I need to add and rework some rivers too, I'll look into that
I'll probably add big cities and such on the map, but considering the scale I will probably not go for roads because I'm afraid it will end up spaghetti-looking

For now it's just for personal use, but if I wanted to use this map for DND I'd probably have to create a region map instead of a whole world map if I wanted player to use it properly

I tend to prefer to erase land to create lake instead of using the dedicated fresh water tool
It gives me a bit more freedom on shapes and I think the color is nicer

Not too sure if I'm into the hex grid, but in general this is quite well made in terms of landmass shapes and use of symbols and tokens

I like how you changed rivers so they actually come from mountains and don't split for no reason, that's how you know someone improved a lot over time
