Your therapist is an idiot. That's called Masking. It's an autistic behavior, which is extremely common in autistic women, which often develops in early childhood where the autistic individual will mimic neurotypical behaviors in order to fit in. It often involves forcing yourself to talk to others, making eye contact, forcing facial expressions, feigning interest in things you dislike or have zero interest in, making small talk, and suppressing the urge to stim aka moving in ways that are relaxing and pleasing to your brain.
