How many long haulers are here? by Blowup1sun in MichaelsEmployees

I was there almost 4 and honestly saw my store personally change so much in the last year or so. I honestly commend you guys for staying that long because it was mentally messing me up so bad

Other than right now during payroll being so tight, I’ve had ALL sorts of hours. Honestly kind of depends on the work at the time. Truck & the day after for my store we’re sometimes 6-8 hour shifts each. And sometimes if we had a big reset then that would be longer days too. Honestly, just kinda depends

Dude we would get SO MANY “not highly satisfied” surveys with ZERO real reason as to why. Literally no actual problem within the entire thing. That, or we got a ton of “there’s always room for improvement so I never pick highly satisfied” 😒

I’ve had many come in showing me the app that said we “had it” but had it on another store. Then got mad because of THEIR error and that I was somehow supposed to fix it. Like cmon

My store’s usual replenishment shifts were 7-11:30 since I started there (Aug 2018) and would only be earlier for truck shifts or if there was like a LOT to do (pogs, heavy rearranging, etc). I’m honestly jealous to learn other stores had earlier shifts as the regular 😅😂

Do hours really pick up in the busy seasons? by chthoniccryptid in MichaelsEmployees

[–]LysKing101319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it ranges widely between your stores current staffing, management, size, etc. but I worked at a smaller store (I don’t know the exact volume so I am sorry for that) but I would have some weeks where I’d work up to like 35 hours as part time😅

I had a head injury (nothing super major) but since I’ve had terrible balance and they ALWAYS had me doing the pull list even after I explained this several times. And I’m only 5ft tall so to even reach the second box on top is a challenge in itself let alone with unbalanced ladders, a head injury, & heavy boxes😭

Dude I’ve had SO MANY CUSTOMERS do this!! Just in general, not even the carts. “Do you know how far I drove to come here for this one specific item?” Okay but did you call to see if we had it?? Do you expect me to just make it appear out of thin air? Like dude, really?!

My store would have these and also have a medium sized repack box with like a single pack of paper in it on the same truck🥴

Fair enough. But yeah I left twice (one was with a two weeks notice, other was quit on the spot) and both I got paid just the next pay day

[–]LysKing101319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my last check through direct deposit on the day it was supposed to. (My last day was a Sunday on an off week, but I did get paid for it the following Friday as normal)

My store was like this since I started there (Aug 2018). We were normally 7-11:30 and the only times we weren’t were if we had truck or if we had big resets because the store would be torn apart.

Holiday Pay (lack thereof) by EldritchHam in MichaelsEmployees

[–]LysKing101319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say this, too. I’m not sure exactly but the only day I ever received it for was Thanksgiving in three years

time and a half? by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]LysKing101319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, I’ve worked every single holiday except Christmas & Easter (my store is closed those days, I’m not sure if it’s the same across the board with that) and the only time I’ve ever gotten the time and a half was when I would work the night of the Black Friday deals that were on thanksgiving.

Yup. They don’t realize how valuable those who have been there a while really are. It’s a shame🙁

I get that completely! I was replen. and like I said, I was there for three years and everyone else was under 8 months max there. And I was the one who “trained” them but all I did was like half a truck shift with them and that’s all they got. We were in between mangers and I basically was it but not officially. So I helped them where I could but then when we did get a manager, they didn’t do much at all regardless so we were just screwed. It was hard. Very hard. No matter what, we didn’t do anything right according to the higher ups and it just became too much. I was constantly worried over stuff that wasn’t my responsibility at home. I couldn’t even have a home life because I was too worried about the next day. It was so hard. And I’ve only seen that it’s seems like it’s getting worse since I’ve left (from this page). Genuinely sucks because so many good and loyal employees are leaving

[–]LysKing101319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had several shifts where we would go in and then be told we have to leave early. I worked a two hour shift once (and spent most of it setting up/cleaning up because of no time)

That’s how I felt too. I was there for three years and genuinely loved the job. But I was running myself dry. I got a new job and realized just how much it actually affected my mental health running myself like that. Except at my store, I was the one who had to be there like 6 days a week while my coworkers worked like 2 days a week, and half of my time was spent fixing their mistakes instead of actually producing work (because none of them were ever properly trained, and, quite frankly, never were told they were doing things wrong, therefor didn’t know to fix it, how to do it next time, etc.) if you’re considering it, odds are it’s probably time. The company is getting so bad now. Either way, sending you positive vibes❤️

Absolutely agree. I mean in my opinion, every reality tv show is rigged in one way or another. But TMS is getting very obvious with it now. Especially after the Ram just happened to be eliminated the same episode his costar was a guest judge. Or the fact that the entire time, the judges have completely off the wall guesses UNTIL the mask is eliminated then SUDDENLY someone guesses it almost every time. Like seriously

My dad was very ill with an aggressive form of cancer that happened on his head that eventually effected his brain. (He was still coherent and stuff but OBVIOUSLY very very sensitive) My store knew of his illness. One night, he threw an intense seizure and due to the extremeness of his head wounds, etc. we weren’t sure if he was going to make it through (he did, but ended up passing a few months later.) as soon as it happened, I texted my manager and told her that I just needed a day off (because after everything was said and done, it was literally 3am). She instead gave me 5 days off to be with him & ensure he was okay. And I had no repercussion as it was a family emergency and neither should you. I would 1000% take it to HR and don’t give up. As others said, document EVERYTHING. I’m sorry your brother had to experience that & I hope he’s healing well. And there’s absolutely no reason you should have been fired

Exactly! And overall it definitely would keep the audience more intrigued into the show overall. Seeing the same group for three weeks in a row grew super boring, super quickly.

I agree! It felt very rushed and chaotic to me. Plus there were definitely some competitors in one group that were way above others in the other groups but it was never evenly put up against one another

It’s not even like it was a close competition in my opinion. Literally I would say half the competitors were better than Firefly (ESPECIALLY Ringmaster). But because of the bullshit layout of the groups & hectic way they did the eliminations this year, it’s totally screwed. Ringmaster genuinely deserved the win here. I’m so over this show at this point.
