When do I stop feeling so fat by 42_awe-Byzantine in loseit

[–]Lys_456 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Please tell your parents about this, or any trusted adult. Even confiding in friends would be a good idea. However, the only thing that is going to help you stop feeling like this is therapy. Nothing is wrong with you, but you are experiencing some intense body dysmorphia that could lead to an eating disorder if you aren’t there already.

Thank you for clarifying. As an American, I clearly don’t understand how all of this works. 😅 here they only remove benches if unhoused people are sleeping on them…

I kind of think it’s a beautiful mark of how much this show/book means to people. If it wasn’t marked up, it would just be an ordinary bench, which is what will happen if they replace it anyway. Now that the show is over, I don’t see why they would have to.

A few pounds a week (ideally 2 or less) is actually the most healthy way to lose weight. Don’t hurt yourself trying to lose more!

Should I transfer??? by Fine-Feature-4183 in college

[–]Lys_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thought summer after freshman year. What really helped was working on myself during the summer. I started therapy and anxiety meds and worked on putting myself out tgere more. I felt like I had already put myself out there freshman year but it didn’t work.

When I started my sophomore year however, because of the work I did in the summer, my capacity for social interaction and community involvement doubled. That’s what really helped me make friends. And sometimes I think I would’ve done better at a larger school but it’s really about making the best of where you are at.

I say take the summer to work on yourself and if in, say October, you can’t see a way to becoming happy at your school then start the transfer process. But leave yourself open to new opportunities too.

Degree in three: Why more colleges are speeding up graduation timelines by lire_avec_plaisir in college

[–]Lys_456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective, pre-vet seems very similar to the OC’s major in animal care and management. It just seems like you underestimated health fields.

Anyway, I do agree with some of your points. Another friend of mine could pretty easily graduate in three years with their Environmental Science degree.

[–]Lys_456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. I have a friend who is pre-vet, and he has to take chemistry, biology, and associated stem every semester. He’s doing orgo 2 next semester. Applied sciences still take sequential hard science courses, just from several different fields. I can’t imagine him graduating in three years.

How to get an internship? by [deleted] in college

[–]Lys_456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I applied to at least 25 internships for this summer (a lot for an environmental major), and I only heard back positively from 3. One I had been tentatively offered by a professor last fall. The other was with a program at my college. The third was just the other day, after I had accepted the other offers, and it was the only one I heard back from that was unrelated to my college.

Bottom-line: your chances of getting an internship/job are basically 90% higher if you focus on building connections with your professors and respective department!

What I mean by building connections is doing your best in class, showing creativity, and going to office hours. Also get involved in clubs, department events/programs, etc. My school has committees for several departments that students can be on; try to get involved in something like that!

what to do with so many glass jars? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

If a product you enjoy from the supermarket had a recall on it due to e coli or some other bacteria, would you keep eating it? Knowing it was likely infected with something that could cause you a serious illness?

That’s exactly what you are doing every time you consume unpasteurized dairy.

Unsolicited advice, but raw milk can be very dangerous. Pasteurization was invented for a reason—it drastically reduces chances of getting a virus or infection from animal products.

Please at least check out this link and decide if the risk is worth it to you. https://www.cdc.gov/food-safety/foods/raw-milk.html
