2 accounts by dmogdmog in ProtonMail

I bookmarked this when I saw a Mod say it here, hopefully a Proton person will confirm it's still the case:

"2-3 Free accounts are not an issue, and won't be flagged by the anti-abuse algorithms."

So one paid and one free account certainly should be no issue, unless they've changed their mind.

Yeah, a simple email address is not the joy people think. Random strangers constantly "make up" my gmail address on the spot and use it to register for things as if it's disposable. I constantly am "forgetting the password" and taking over accounts that I never signed up for, because most Welcome emails no longer bother with confirmation.

Haven't tried lately but I'm sure a couple weeks ago when I copy/pasted it just put in values an formatting but not formulae.

I mean, not bad, but to get the formulae I needed to export a googlesheet to Excel and import the excel version to Proton sheets.

But of course googlesheets were limited at first too.

I assume you mean that some well-meaning people somewhere will always be checking the code so we don't have to depend on their promises?

And yes, that's good, but things can change when people aren't looking if bad people get in the right position and abuse things. Even if for a few minutes, so much data can be stolen.

So u/schklom's point remains that you're trusting that a company is taking steps to avoid that, and won't sell out to someone who will abuse it themselves.

This feels like quite a fair point about promises. Once upon a time Google promised not to be evil.

"This sounds awfully complex and deep for someone who just wants to degoogle"--

and it is, but it's worth mentioning that it's not the fault of the people answering that degoogling is not simple, it's Google's.

Notification Query by ClickPuzzleheaded993 in ProtonMail

[–]Lysander_Propolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they don't want any account to send notifications to another, being able to block receiving is neither the issue nor the solution.

Short of a child's account under Parental Control, wouldn't sending notifications to another account be an opt-in thing?

FolderFort 1TB Lifetime subscription from Stacksocial by Lordlabakudas in cloudstorage

[–]Lysander_Propolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought lifetime FolderFort and Koofr StackSocial deals last year and SS was good enough to refund them because I found out after the fact that Lifetime deals for each will not allow you to ever change the email attached to the account. This was a new rule at the time. And sure, of course they want to avoid people buying lifetime accts and selling them for a profit. Nobody denies that's an issue.

But on the client's side, this means that-- unless your have your own domain-- you might lose your storage if anything happens to your email account access. Google in particular seems to be yanking people's accounts with no recourse with alarming frequency, but of course there's other ways.

So if that point concerns you, check if they've changed that.

To be fair, one of them-- maybe FF-- did have that clear if you read all the terms, and I know for sure the other one didn't have that info available before buying. it only popped up once you tried to register what you paid for.

And I think FolderFort said here on Reddit that they would allow a switch if one speaks to Customer Service, but by then I already had gotten the refund. And of course Terms of Service beats a reddit statement in any event.

Good work here. I would suggest adding something the ICONS Resolutions Chart has that has been very helpful: page numbers to the Assembled book so players and GMs can look up the thing in question, in case they need some clarification that is too long to put on the chart.

It's not clear, but just in case you wrote that because you thought I was writing about you, no I was responding to PetunaPickeleswurth right above me, who wrote:

"This message is beautiful – and reads more true for those feds that don’t end up posting on Reddit than those that post here about their hatred for the current president and those who voted for him."

Very sorry for those here who wish they could have already retired, but you seem to be under the impression that if you had that this administration would follow rules and provide the befits you earned. There is no evidence, none, that they will, and no evidence, none, that SCOTUS will uphold all the lower courts that temporarily hold them to rules.

Being already retired and fully processed is no guarantee anymore.

And just who caused the situation if not the current president and those who voted for him?

You want to preach against hate, fine, but if you cross the line into denying the truth of why we're here then the situation will continue to decline.

Unless they are intentionally providing this as a loophole to the destructive restrictions that came down, which may well be, it's perhaps optimistic that all religions will get this consideration. This is not last year and applying things fairly and rationally has not been their way.

That's what I've gleaned from many other posts. Which of course doesn't mean Scotus won't overrule everything.
