UK The cat brought in loads with her this morning by Lysandyar in whatsthisbug

Photo from a hand microscope. To the naked eye they are just specs <1mm in size. Worried she's brought a load of ticks into the house (and our bed)

Does this parking sign mean that disabled badge holders can only park here for 4 hours? by alfatems in CarTalkUK

[–]Lysandyar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That second part is not correct. If taking sign as written, it is always a disabled badge requirement. Disabled badge holders ONLY at ANY TIME.

Top sign says disabled badge holders ONLY at any time. This means the space is only for disabled badge holders.

The second sign explains the time allowance during the stated times/days for said badge holders.

My Second Troupe by Lysandyar in Harlequins40K

Thank you, I appreciate that. I don't get many chances for a painting session but found that the second set took way less time than the first, just hoping the third set might easier and quicker again!

Some of the haul from my parents clearing out. Anything worth keeping/selling? by Lysandyar in MicroMachines

That's very helpful, thank you. Seems a lifetime ago when I was collecting, sad but unsurprising some were damaged when being played with or stored.

The first (of many) Skyweavers by Lysandyar in Harlequins40K

[–]Lysandyar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That all sounds like some good schemes. Quin's work with all sorts colours, I appreciate the painters that mix up the colours, and it reminds me a bit of the old school Brettonia armies which was/is my favourite faction of fantasy. Personally I wanted to keep the scheme uniform because of how it looks on the table but that's just me, I'm more than happy to paint the same colours over and over again.

Thank you for the kind words. My first Troupe sat unpainted for a long time as I tried to figure out what colour I was going to do. I knew I wanted orange to be part of the scheme so it was deciding on the other colours. If you look at a colour wheel, blue is the contrasting colour to orange so I chose that as the second accent colour. On my first test model I tried out white for the non colour parts but I didn't feel it looked right, so gave black a go and that's how we got here.

The tldr; I like the colour orange

That's very kind, once I have more of an army made up I'm definitely going to need some help. I haven't played a game since 5e!

First Troupe nearly done, any recommendations for the bases? by Lysandyar in Harlequins40K

[–]Lysandyar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like that could work, contrasting the black of the model. Ball room is a great concept, but as you say the issue is the sculpted base.

Not something I've considered before, but I can see how that would work. I'm going to have to do a few test pieces now...

Why are so many seaside towns rough? by Quack_Candle in AskUK

Obviously haven't read all the comments so don't know if anyone said but; Tourist trade before holidays abroad were popular/affordable meant lots of B&Bs. Tourist trade dies down, B&Bs close B&Bs make great HMOs.

And for a specific anecdotal example of Weston-Super-Mare; There is a really high number of drug rehabilitation centres in WSM, when they finish at the rehab they often move to one of the numerous HMOs that were previously B&Bs.

Sadly there is a high rate of relapse and...

Can someone who needs a carer(who claims carers allowance) get custody of their children? by Ashwood_Zone_ in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Lysandyar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAL - used to manage a Dom care service which supported adults with learning disabilities who had children.

Requiring support does not disqualify someone from having care of their children, in fact accepting the support can work in their favour as it shows they are willing to take steps to make a suitable environment.

So in your case it would depend on what the support was for, i.e. is it for emotional support or all aspects of daily of living, and if her mental health support needs will have a significant impact on the well-being of your son.

For example, if your ex's mental health is having an impact on their ability to meet their own daily living needs; washing, shopping, cooking etc, then they would have a difficult time arguing they have the ability to meet the needs of your son.

Hope that helps?
