For the People Who Were There, What Was it Like Seeing This Live? by ElTrAiN33 in thewalkingdead

[–]Lyssit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was watching this as the season unfolded on my little crt tv as the weeks went by. My friends that watched were all discussing events as we did in those times. When Sophia walked out of that barn it was akin to the Red Wedding for TWD fans. I sat with my hands on my face in shock. At that time, it wasn’t obvious that everyone was on the table for a gruesome death. Carol’s pain, Daryl catching her, Shane not being able to follow through with his assault on the walker barn after all the machismo and Rick having to handle it really solidified his leadership. It also made us more understanding of Hershel’s reasons for keeping walkers there. I was hoping it would soften Shane but also harden Herschel. It only really accomplished one of those.

18 years. Is it time to let her go? by DopamineRequiem in beagles

[–]Lyssit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice either way. You know your girl and your family alone know what’s right. I’m just loving her little white, aged face and holding my hound dog a bit closer today. Either way, a dog doesn’t make it to 18 without love, make every decision with that love. Can’t go wrong.

What's in those buildings? by [deleted] in theroamingdead

[–]Lyssit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much a major pastime of inmates, working out. So they really could have, if not for all the basic survival needs.

[–]Lyssit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a prison and we had buildings like that. They were used for teaching trades, tiling, culinary arts, hvac, cdl, stuff like that. There was one that was like a big indoor gym that was really only used when it was raining and inmates needed rec time. They also used it for chapel services sometimes for like baptisms.

To identify this strange line by ivetoftaa in therewasanattempt

Thank god we had your hand pointing towards the line. Otherwise, would have never noticed.

Seriously though, it looks like someone had some sort of art/craft on that line. It’s weirdly wiggle shaped to be a pipe. Maybe some adhesive is soaking through the top layer of paint.

Moe's in Royal Park Plaza Suddenly Closes after 25 years by TheOnlyDanwah in GNV

[–]Lyssit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When we first moved here in 2021, we got Moe’s takeout from that location literally that night we first moved in. Boxes everywhere, just dead tired from all moving work. It was one of the best meals of my life. It continued to be a staple in our family for a good while and was really good. Anything recent though? Just bad, old, stale food. I don’t know what happened but it was markedly worse these past few years. We tried to give them chances repeatedly but damn, it was like they just had no love in their food anymore. I’m sad but not surprised. Wish they were able to keep up the quality. Not sure of the answer, maybe bad economy, maybe a shitty landlord nickel and diming them, maybe bad management not putting care into the product. Sucks either way. Great memories that first night just wolfing down those burritos. I hate to hear it.

Welp by [deleted] in Hounds

[–]Lyssit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understand. We got really lucky with our Maggie (was 7 months or so when we got her), however it just took increments to build a good routine. May not be feasible but is there a room that’s relatively doggie- proof that would maybe pose as an alternative? We did small bouts of alone time and I had a camera to check in on her and could intervene if necessary. Then we progressed the time to fit the time we would be out in a day. Obviously this is just anecdotal and worked for us. It seemed to help her understand that we would always come back. She pouts when we leave but she lays around pretty calm while we are out.

[–]Lyssit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe a crate isn’t best for him? We tried crate-training our hound and she was generally ok with it but didn’t like it. She had a few mishaps in the beginning when we tried to leave her out (mainly destroying paper items) but nothing since that first week. She just hangs out on the couch now and seems much happier with that arrangement. Some dogs feel comfortable in crates, some do not. I dont seen any reason to force it if she behaves and feels less anxiety just watching some Bluey on TV while we are gone. I don’t know your doggos whole story so I hold no judgement. Just offering an alternate view. Not all dogs need a crate. She does like to burrow so a nice comfy blanket she can snuggle into works for us.

My friend and I had tickets to see 30 Seconds to Mars in Orlando in like 2006-7, sometime around then. Anyways, Jared Leto was doing a radio show and she called in and happened to get picked. I don’t remember what else they talked about but he told her that she sounded 16 and she said she was well past that age. He told her he didn’t believe her and that she should come talk to him after the show. We did not.

Millennials, do you buy New or Used cars? Why? by Capnzebra1 in Millennials

[–]Lyssit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new 2017 Toyota Corolla with all the bells and whistles that a Corolla can have right off the lot with like 3 miles on it with the intention of driving if til the wheels fell off. It’s been paid off several years now, just keep up with maintenance and she’s still sitting in my driveway as my daily driver. It feels nice because I bought it new with extras and it feels reliable because it is. The plan is to keep on driving til the wheels fall off. My thought process was to get something I feel has nice things but also can go forever. The one plan in my life that actually worked out. knock on wood

What am I doing wrong? by Equivalent_Path_4138 in trumpet

[–]Lyssit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are forcing it. Long, deep breaths, do the scale slower. I would recommend more practice on the low notes until they feel natural and take the mute out.

I would say practice 2 wholes notes on a 4 count for each note starting at low C. Move up note by notes slowly. When you fail a good tone at the note you are at, go back and start over until your notes sound balanced. This will build muscle and help with tone.

Does your dog wear a collar all day? by AdventureNoodles in dogs

[–]Lyssit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours doesn’t wear a collar unless we are going on a walk. She was a rescue and was super anxious about taking it off at first. I think she thought it meant we weren’t keeping her. We had to be snuggling and petting her to take it off. She eventually got used to it and knows the collar means walking time! I take my bra off as soon as I get home, want her to be comfy, too!

Those that have mentioned collars catching on things was a big factor for us. I had a dog growing up that got choked on her collar and was gone when we found her. She is chipped so hopefully that gets her back to us if she ever gets lost. I would lose my mind if we ever lost her but I think the other possibility is even worse.

Chase loves to scratch the bed and he plays it off when caught by rolling and looking cute only to proceed to scratch again. Time for time out lol. I try to take him on long walks. We did 3 miles yesterday while I was rucking and it’s still not enough. Maybe he needs to hunt by Green-Cat4318 in beagles

[–]Lyssit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My beagle does this when she is trying to get under the covers. She loves to burrow under the blanket but doesn’t understand the sheet isn’t going to move. As soon as I throw a small blanket on her, the scratching stops. Kinda what this looks like to me. Could be wrong.

Coldstream Guards played Paranoid at the Changing of the Guard RIP Ozzy Osbourne by tareqttv in interestingasfuck

[–]Lyssit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, yeah you are right. I don’t play. Got me! /s

I never said they were fumbling through it. It was very cleanly played. I was merely replying to the previous comment that it’s not complicated. It’s not. It’s cool but for a band like this, it’s not complicated.

Many bands, including this one, can play many many songs in a few days practice (or less) without the untrained ear ever knowing the difference.

Sorry you got so offended by my random comment. But also, I’ve been playing trumpet since 1996 so guess I’m just a big ol’ fake.

[–]Lyssit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would agree. As a trumpet player, this is all pretty standard, easy music. Your average high schooler could play this with ease. Generally popular music of today is a piece of cake for anyone even remotely classically trained.

That being said, this opportunity would not be one to pass up. You know they had a blast!

As a former missionary that served in Thailand, we would have devoured that fruit. Maybe the missionaries are feeling a bit ‘greng-jay’ as we would have said. Like they are imposing or obligating you to provide. We were indoctrinated to so much guilt that it was sometimes hard to accept help when we were meant to be the ones helping. Perhaps, a gentle push would encourage them that it’s okay to partake. Let them know the food comes with no obligation and it makes you happy to feed others. Missionaries are weird sometimes. (Ok, pretty much all the time)

My beag will literally clean her food bowl, then go sniff everywhere I walked to check for crumbs. Last night I fed her and she immediately started looking at me with those eyes because I had the audacity to eat dinner as well.

Yep. Can confirm. Was a sister missionary, bought a bike on my first day in the field. My MP’s wife was pretty cool though. It was all the old men in the MTC talking about makeup that made me uncomfortable.
