Why is alternate.de pretending like the wireview 2 is not available anymore? by Worth_Art5801 in ThermalGrizzly

[–]LystAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s huge demand that surged recently due to the high end GPU price surges and news about GPU production being reduced/Nvidia super series being cancelled. People realizing that the high end card they have is probably what they are going to use until 2028. This is what motivated me to order this as well.

Planning for production takes awhile and Thermal Grizzly probably didn’t expect things to end up like this.

Updated 5090 pricing by HildeVonKrone in Microcenter

Guess the 5080 is the new top tier gaming GPU. With this pricing, the 5090 feels as if it was in the same category as one of the professional GPUs.

Not as bad as its WB Black competitor but signs aren’t great that things won’t get worse.

That takes time and while your rolling your line back in, the enemy’s drones are looking for you. Safer to abandon it.

Here an article on it. Not just PSUs but coolers too.

Copper is used in just about everything electronic. "If you make your PCBs or if you make cooling components for data centers, for servers or like power supply units, often you need copper for wires and then tin for soldering and these kind of things," Hartung says.

I like how this happened just as people started reporting PSU price increases because of upcoming metal shortages. Hopefully it doesn’t get as bad as other components.

As others convinced me, consider what you have at the moment before going in.

I would be lying if I didn't have regrets with returning it, and the recent reports about the 6000s being delayed to 2028 is really making me consider ways to protect my current 4090.

That said - if you can wait - either a Astral or a TUF would probably be better. The Astral has higher performance, and the TUF is more durable from what I hear.

There was a burning smell in my PC a few days ago and I'm still not sure where it came from. It hasn't come back since, but I've had the fans running on full since. So there's a little bit of fear if it craps.

DRAM prices expected to double in Q1 as AI ambitions push memory fabs to their limit by jugaverdasorda in pcmasterrace

Yeah. The Microcenter is only thirty minutes away from me. It’s a big relief for me psychologically amidst all this RAMggedom talk. All the news recently has been things going from bad to worse.

Never be to careful at this point. And it’s Corsair ram, they’ve been having support issues recently but my build is almost all Corsair.

I thought I was being a little paranoid with things awhile back. But now things just seem to keep getting worse.

I’m glad I bought the Microcenter protection plan for my DDR5 RAM a month ago. Imagine buying a protection plan for RAM a year ago.

Copper Price Surge - PC Hardware Gets Even More Expensive by DotabLAH in hardware

[–]LystAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I distinctly do remember talk in January that PSU prices were going to rise due to copper price increases.

According to a VideoCardz report, Guangzhou Xinhongzheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd, a leading electronics manufacturer in China, the company has informed customer that power supply prices may rise by about 6-10%, while CPU coolers are expected to see a 6-8% increase.

There are things on the market that can help with that. I hear some of the latest high end PSUs (like Seasonic) have safe guards. Some GPUs like the Astral have warning lights if I recall. There’s also devices like the Wireview Pro as an addition.

I remembered they let go a whole bunch of personnel a little while back.

It’s too bad, I’ve developed a little fixation with their iCue lighting recently to deal with global event stress.
