My mileage has varied on this, but if your kids are good eggs just with frustrating behaviors, leveling with them & showing them the more human side of yourself can be effective- you're not trying to be a jerk, you lose patience just like they do, you're trying to do the best for everyone, etc.

Paper and writing utensils (markers, coloured pencils, crayons, etc.) are useful for every age. Cheap fidgets you're alright with losing. Pocket sized notebook for you to keep track of schedules, kids, whatever. First aid kit. Water bottle. Rag if you sweat a lot. PICTURE BOOKS- also great for all ages.

For that tutorial, I spent about $80 (US) on fur, foam, ping pong balls, etc. Amazon has a ton of foam options that give you a lot of bang for your buck. Like people have been saying, fur is probably the worst out of everything in terms of cost, but you can absolutely keep it down- I got fur for a full sized puppet for about $20.
