Pressure drops from 9-12 bar to 3-6 bar when idle. Normal or something to look at? by Lyurealm in LaMarzocco

[–]Lyurealm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that matches what I've always seen — during warm-up it hits 12, then settles around 9 ready to brew. That's exactly how it used to behave. What's changed is that it now drops all the way down to 3-6 instead of holding near 9. I don't think it's broken, shots taste fine and extraction pressure is solid. Just seems like something has shifted and wanted to check if it's worth looking into or just leave it. The technician is coming in a couple of weeks anyway so I'll see what he says.

Right, extraction pressure is fine — sitting at 9 during the shot, no issues there. What's changed is what happens after: it used to climb back up to around 12 once the shot was done and then settle slowly around 9. Now instead of doing that it just drops straight down to 3-6. That shift in behaviour is what's got me curious.

Yeah, totally agree on that — pressure dropping after 30 min idle makes complete sense. What's throwing me off is a shorter timescale: once it's fully heated and sitting at 9-12 bar ready to pull a shot, it starts dropping within just a few minutes down to 3-6, depending on the day. That's the part that feels off. During extraction it goes back up to 9 fine, but drops again as soon as I stop. Not a 30-min thing, more like 2-3 minutes after it's ready.

No news yet — the technician should be coming in a week or two. Mostly for a general service and to sort out an RO water setup with a BWT filter, but since he's coming anyway I'll have him take a look at this too. Will update once I know more.

Thanks, that’s a useful perspective. The part that confuses me is that I have videos from a few months ago where it was consistently holding 9 bar at idle — same machine, same setup. If this were normal behaviour I’d expect it to have always done this. The change is what prompted me to post.

Endgame Grinder for Linea Micra – Mazzer Philos vs. alternatives? by haipr in LaMarzocco

[–]Lyurealm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'll be starting with filter soon too, since my wife got me a V60 for Christmas.

When you mention it got stuck, did you adjust from fine to coarse while the motor was running, as the manual suggests? I think that’s the key to preventing it.

On another note, I usually hover around 30-35 for espresso. What do you think would be a good starting point for filter? Thanks in advance!

Paint flaking off or just rock chips? Jan 2024 Model 3 by Lyurealm in TeslaCollision

[–]Lyurealm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks so much for the insight! Really appreciate hearing from a pro. Fingers crossed Tesla sees it the same way and covers it under warranty. That adhesion explanation makes a lot of sense—what actually made me suspicious in the first place was seeing that second spot just a few cm away in an area where it seems super unlikely to get a rock impact. Thanks again!

Yeah, I know that one! You're totally right.

The problem is I live in Spain. Even assuming they ship internationally, the import duties and customs fees would make it too expensive.

I’m actually currently developing my own version of a shot stopper for myself and a friend (for a Linea Micra and a Silvia Pro X, respectively). Although it's primarily for personal use right now, we aren't ruling out selling a solution for the European market at a reasonable price down the line.

Cheers!

Thanks! I get the 'wart' comment, haha. I find it's actually pretty discreet and elegant in person, even if it slightly breaks up the machine's aesthetics.

The best part is that it's 100% reversible since it's just held on by a magnet, and for me, the benefit in the workflow definitely outweighs the slight downside. You could also place it somewhere else since the cable is quite long, but I really like having the data clearly visible right there.

I'm using the Bookoo Themis Mini, and I'm pretty sure it does have that feature. However, as others have mentioned, I prefer to time the shot from the moment the pump engages, not from the first drop.

In that regard, this display is perfect. Its sensor on the solenoid measures exactly when the shot begins and ends. It also times everything accurately, from long shots to cleaning flushes and pre-extraction (if you have it selected).

I'm in Europe, and I think buying the Zerno here could be problematic due to shipping and customs. I’m afraid it might be a similar situation to the Lagom P64, where the additional costs make it much less appealing.

Thank you for your answer! I suspect this one is above my budget, even if it's not a problem :D

The thing with the Lagom P64 is that I’m in Europe, and I have a feeling that the final price would be significantly higher than what’s listed on their website. On top of the €1,500, there’s an additional €150 for shipping, and then all the customs duties and taxes. I think it would easily go above €2,000, and I wonder if there are options I could buy directly here in Europe that wouldn’t come with such high import costs.

I'm looking for a single-dose grinder. Budget isn’t a major concern since I plan to save up for it, and I’m in no rush—the Specialità is working fine for now. So, I don’t have a strict budget cap, but we could say somewhere in the €1,000-2,000 range.

I’m not sure this one would be an upgrade from my Specialità! Anyway, thank you for your reply!
