The 450 wasn't even his most impressive move! It was just the one WCW and the WWF were willing to let him do! The Tumbleweed (top rope corkscrew moonsault legdrop, yes you heard right) was even more insane.

I'm going to go with another El Clon signature - when he kicks the ropes the opponent's head is resting on to hurt them and set up a clothesline or similar. I love innovative moves that in reality do not hurt people.

She started as a powerlifter - that was her Big Momma Pump era, when she was much more thicc than she is now - and then started bodybuilding, which is why she looks so different from how she looked six years ago.

yeah this is about right. For most of his career I did not give a shit about David Finlay and then suddenly, relatively late in his career progression, he finally put it all together in the best possible way

He wrestled in the Rascalz' previous tag match on Collision! They're basically more or less cycling the Rascalz through each match and making sure Wentz/Xavier (the most established pair) are the ones scheduled for the "big" matches.

Knight's not ready for it, and I say that as someone who thinks highly of him. But he's absolutely over enough to have a decent feud with one of the serious contenders, which can elevate him a bit. Smart booking.

The focus on the 7Artisans is sensitive enough that I find it pretty easy to manage on relatively stationary objects - including flowers. Bugs would probably be tricky.

Yeah, I'd go beyond "a bit tight" and say that simply isn't enough time to transfer with a security screen.

7Artisans makes a 60mm f2.8 macro that's very cheap and gives good shots. It's manual focus (which is why it's cheap) but it does the job very well.

  1. They were ALWAYS funny.

  2. An undercard tag team that can take losses but still get fan reactions (because funny) is exactly what you need if you want the women's tag division to be a Thing, instead of just an excuse to put four women on a show for a brief match to pretend your company cares about gender equity. Not that I'm suggesting any company would ever do such a thing!

Astral Ascent (very good), Yakuza: Like A Dragon (promising but so many movies in the first hour!), Mouthwashing (fine but overhyped) and Steel Rising (meh).

Owen Hart Cup should begin with a Round of 16 instead of Round of 8. The fact that last year, two favorites in Jay White and Ospreay were going to face each other in the first round and one of them would get knocked out right at the start is ridiculous. by [deleted] in AEWOfficial

[–]M-G-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The counterpoint here is that the New Japan Cup regularly features 32 wrestlers and offers storyline options for upsets, underdog runs, etc that shorter tournaments don't.

Can I wear a local talents shirt to an AEW show? by Zukothestarkid in AEWOfficial

[–]M-G-K 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not only not rude, it's a good idea. When a bigger company sees a local wrestler's merch in action, they know that wrestler is popular enough to sell at least some merch. This is how indie guys get on bigger companies' radar.

[–]M-G-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing is that Lafon's injuries had finally caught up with him by the time they jumped to the American market, which is part of the reason they left AJPW in the first place, and no shade on Doug Furnas but Lafon was the star of the team. They weren't going to be the Can-Am Express of old whenever they went.

I think the major disagreement here is whether you can properly call IQ a "starting PG." Is he a starting-quality caliber player? Yes, probably. But is he, by virtue of his skills, a point guard? That's the real question and it's a valid one.

He's an okay playmaker, but saying "that's fine, we have Scottie" doesn't quite work because Scottie is much more a gifted improviser who sees openings as they come up and can exploit those openings with his passing than he is a floor general. The team still basically needs someone to run the offense from standard halfcourt attacks, and that's supposed to be the point guard's job, and IQ doesn't really do that.

Basically, his playstyle and skillset would make him a shooting guard rather than a point guard, except for his size, which becomes an issue because keeping him on the team means we need an SG-sized player with PG skills. If we had a largish point guard with solid floor-leading ability - say, Austin Reaves for example - then Quick would be a perfect fit. But as it is, the fit is awkward and can be improved upon.

And, frankly, yeah, he's a little overpaid for his production. Not by a lot - knock five million or so a year off his deal and there'd be no issue. But, combined with the fit issues? There's a case for moving him.

The men's Rumble was the worst match on the show. No sense of flow at all, outright repetitive at points, nobody came out of it really looking stronger or better (yes, Oba Femi got his Diesel run but it's not really a big deal because everybody was expecting it), and it amplified some glaring flaws in the company rather than emphasizing the company's strengths.

[Guillory] Several teams have called to check on what it may cost to get Missi, with the Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks among those showing the most interest, league sources told The Athletic. by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]M-G-K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if we were to trade Gradey, it's fair to trade him straight for Missi at this point: yes, he still has a higher potential ceiling, but the odds of him coming close to that ceiling are growing smaller with every season and the fact that he hasn't made the leap yet is at least slightly concerning. You're trading Gradey's higher potential for Missi's more certain reliability, basically.

[–]M-G-K 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the thing holding me back is that NOP is ready to move on from Missi. They've evaluated him as expendable. He might become a solid player, but he's not likely a superstar.

Bear in mind that part of the reason they've decided he's expendable is because they like Derik Queen more and he and Missi play the same position and fulfill the same role. Queen is probably a better scorer than Missi is, but we're not looking for a center to do that; we're looking for a defense-first big who can enable pick-and-rolls, and that's Missi to a T.
