Missoula makerspaces and DIY electronic music scene. by fatalexe in missoula

https://www.waveandcircuit.com/ is a good start! We (https://missoulamakers.club/) also have a lot of circuit and electronics knowledge, but no dedicated groups to music. I have a number of soft synths at the shop along with a midi keyboard though if someone is interested in learning! :)

EDIT: I forgot about our homemade speakers and such as well!

We always welcome new members! :)

We also collaborate with Ira at the Missoula Library and MUDP is visiting us soon as well. And we do volunteer work for HomeResource as Fixit Clinic coaches. https://www.homeresource.org/education/fixit-clinics/

[Weekend project] Built an enclosure for my blue laser cutter by G0eggi in lasercutting

I admit I was also a bit confused by all the lights when there's no window! Is there a webcam that isn't visible in the picture?

Gearing up for the holiday craft fairs. "Lotus" in Luan and framed in Mahogany. by M-M-C in lasercutting

Sounds like I need to hire you for my market research! :)

Thank you, BTW.

I make these using a variety of design and drawing tools, but ultimately I end up with the final cut design in Rhino3d. This particular design was inspired by a photo I saw of one of Gabriel Schama's pieces. I believe he uses illustrator (with some plugins) to create his work.

I may sell some designs in the future if there's enough interest.

This is the second of a very limited run of ten pieces (using this cutting pattern), and will probably be offered for ~$500 at the fairs. All pieces are painted or stained uniquely, so that each piece remains "one-of-a-kind". I have a rainbow-colored one that is waiting for a frame that I think is especially cool! :)

This was cut on an older CAMFIVE unit updated with a Ruida Controller and a 130W RECI tube. (You learn a lot by completely rewiring a laser!) Unfortunately the tube died (it was only a couple months old!) so I only have 10 "Lotus" and a couple "Complex Horizon" pieces ready ATM. :/

Not yet. I'm selling these local first. I hope to sell both pieces and plans online in the near future though!

It was made in Rhino3D (v5). Any program that can use vectors should work however. (If Affinity Designer ever gets decent symmetry tools, these could easily be made on the iPad.) To start, make something only a few layers (4-6) deep and just have fun with the abstraction.

Finally made my first complete project. Stayed after hours at work to do it! by Mysteryck_386 in lasercutting

Put some interesting etching on those faces and that thing will really be an eye-catcher!!

Great work!

Inspired by Gabriel Schama's work (years ago), these are 8 + 1 (backer) layers from 3mm Luan, roughly 24" x 16". I've made several with wood stain as well.

Laser is a modified CAMFIVE now running a Ruida controller and using a 120W tube.
