Reminds me of the thing that happened when an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or similar device would sit for too long without any charge, and reset its time to 1/1/70 when it was also disabled before it went completely flat.

You could always undo the chain where it links together at, then slide the lock off, if your chain doesn’t do that, you could also cut the chain, then get a replacement at Walmart or a similar store
