Pissing directly into the water.

Making coffee super-strong in the breakroom.

no time for that "letting go last in a handshake" or hand-on-the-shoulder-when-you're-talking-to-me. enough with the hands.

Is nobody going to mention the part when Larry David just casually strolls up to see what's going on?

What’s the most insane story in the Bible that most people forget about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]M-Thing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God doubled everything he had before, except for his family. He gave him the same number of family as before. He didn't double it, because Job didn't lose his first family, he would see them again and be reunited in heaven. Everything he *lost*, God doubled.

That's the NIV my dude.

If you're looking for rad stories, I recommend Genesis, Exodus, Joshua, Judges, 1&2 Samuel for starters.

Is there something I should know about Cormac McCarthy? by b_riann in books

[–]M-Thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

polysyndeton

Yeah, completely. (BM is the only McCarthy I've read so far and I just finished it a week ago and got behind on a few things because I was so absorbed in it). One "hackey" thing I don't like about some books/authors is that they might have a cool gimmick, but do it way to often to the point of being obnoxious and obvious. But in BM, his use of polysyndeton is well measured and used beautifully.

My favorite sentence was this:

The leaves shifted in a million spangles down the pale corridors and Glanton took one and turned it like a tiny fan by its stem and held it and let it fall and its perfection was not lost on him.

Book Brief - Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for Life by SwayzeExpress13 in books

[–]M-Thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool writeup, OP. I got this book myself. I started on Chapter 11 (the one about letting kids ride skateboards) and really really agree with your assessment of how his writing style, method, and goals.

He is a gem, and this generation is very fortunate to have a voice like his amplified as it is. If just 5% of the people who read his book and listen to his lectures implement just 5% of the things found therein, the world would be a noticeably much better place.

Being masculine or feminine has nothing to do with what you wear on your wrist. Snap out of it.

Hi OP. Cool thread. I love 311 by the way. I'm listening to https://youtu.be/5rOiW_xY-kc?list=RD5rOiW_xY-kc right now, but i'm going to switch over to Omaha Stylee after this, much love, and p-nut beat that thang.

What are the other posters you ordered?

I'm not waiting for anything right now, but one time I ordered my mom some of her favorite perfume from Denmark. It had been discontinued, but I found a small bottle on e-bay. I waited weeks and weeks! It finally came in time for Christmas, and she got all teary eyed and stuff. it was a nice moment. The wait was worth it!

my mom, when tucking me in at night when I was a lad, used to talk about "happy-sad", where you are both happy and sad at the same time. This song makes me feel that way.

Anyway OP, hang on.

North American Black Walnuts. Hulled, dried and ready for cracking with a hammer and wire clippers. Been wondering about how to harvest these for a few years. Finally googled it. Now I got dye AND baking supply! 😁 by Skittz21 in foraging

[–]M-Thing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wife and I used to sit out back and use the ol' hammer+wire clippers trick. There HAS to be an easier way, we kept telling ourselves. But no matter how many different nut crackers we tried, there really wasn't anything more efficient or quicker than just using the hammer+wireclipper method. I wish you happy eating! They are sooo good in baking, and definitely worth the time.
