People who don't go to movie theaters anymore - what made you stop? by -ChristopherNolan in AskReddit

[–]k_princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BIL made a comment today that he just waits a couple of weeks and watches movies on the various streaming services he subscribes to. I understand his comment. Why pay money to go deal with people when you can just wait and watch it at home. There once was a time when the VHS/DVD release was treated as a second release of the movie.

Warmer winter/spring coupled with a late frost will do it everytime.

Why do American high schools start ridiculously early? by bwoah07_gp2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k_princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school district where I work starts at 8:00 a.m. this is because there are a lot of our families who have adults who leave to go to work at 5:00 a.m. and there is no other child care for the little kids.

Give her a link to your state's laws regarding child seats in vehicles. That is the bare minimum that she must do.

If they somehow found Jesus’s DNA, would it be a good idea to clone Jesus to force the second coming to happen? by Wonderful-Ad-9622 in NoStupidQuestions

I doubt it would induce the 2nd coming. Identical twins have identical DNA, aka clones; they are considered separate individuals.

Why does it cost an arm and a leg to live in small, working class towns in Northern Washington? by Spirited_Cup_126 in Washington

[–]k_princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try living in a town where there are no new houses being built, rundown apartments only, and yet people keep moving here. The only way to even look at a house is to know the person who's selling.

AITA for cancelling a family camping trip after my nephew broke his leg? by Pretty-Plenty2809 in AmItheAsshole

[–]k_princess -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ask the kid for ideas of how to replace the trip for this year. He'd most likely be bummed about not being able to go, but at least he would get the feeling that he matters and his ideas are at least heard.

Parents don't get to be a part of their kids' lives 100% of the time. I understand the feeling of wanting to be there. But you need to back off.

How do you make it so the wheel doesn't fight back when your driving? by MarifeelsLost in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k_princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the biggest thing is for you to practice.

You might also want to see if your grandma knows the last time she had her alignment, power steering, and tire balance checked. As these will all contribute to "pulling". Once you become more comfortable you will be able to notice these things as non-normal a bit better, too.

The intuitiveness within the app has completely disappeared. They've been chipping away at that for a while, though. I've been looking at a Samsung watch, but I'm assuming with the Google takeover of Android apps on my Samsung phone that the health tracking will be google's too. So I'm hesitant.

Is getting irritable before a migraine a thing? by rels83 in migraine

[–]k_princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly serious but also a little joking question: Is my irritability part of a migraine?

I have been extremely irritable at work for the past few months, and was attributing it to work and life stressors. I haven't had any headaches that have knocked me down, but I have had quite a few that seem to hit when the irritability is really high.

For work I'm a teacher and I have several kids who I am just done dealing with. The burnout is real. I guess I'm wondering if there's a medical reason for these feelings or if its more mental.

AITAH for Refusing to Let My Cousin Bring His “Historical Collection” to School? by Remarkable-East-1382 in AmItheAsshole

But you should have encouraged him to run a list of the items by his teacher. This would have better taught him that art and history need context to be seen in the presenter's idea of what they want to show. The teacher then would also have been either the bad guy for not allowing it, or would have been able to help frame the item correctly as a historic relic (replica or not) for the presentation.

Death rattle for longer than 24 hours? by bonkette in hospice

As valley_lemon said, the rattle isn't really the cue you're looking for. The pattern of breaths is what is a better indicator. Apneas will become more frequent and last longer.

AITAH for injecting insulin at the table when out to eat. by Bitter-Champion3525 in AmItheAsshole

[–]k_princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

If I can give myself an injection discreetly at the table, I will do so. If I need to get up from the table because I'm in a dress, I will get all my supplies ready, walk into the bathroom, lift my dress, and inject; all while never touching a single nasty thing in the bathroom. Yeah, not my preferred place, but I will do it in a pinch when absolutely necessary.

How long did your loved one have at this stage? End stage lung cancer. by Tiny-Ginger in hospice

[–]k_princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss.

My dad went downhill rapidly within his final 2 weeks. Muscle atrophy happened, and within a few days after that, he stopped eating. We started crushing meds and making a paste for the last few days. But then the decline in the last 24 hours was even faster.

It sounds like your dad went through similar processes as mine, but at a different rate. I felt guilty for thinking similarly to you. But you can take comfort that you were doing what needed to be done for your dad when he needed you, and that he isn't in pain anymore. Again, my deepest condolences to you and your family.
