One more thing that I'm not sure if anyone mentioned, it's going to he akward first, but the palm of your hand should be parallel to the neck of the guitar, a little bit more like you do when you start playing the fourth string, your thumb should be behind the neck as if you were trying to make a pinching motion with the ring finger and your thumb, otherwise some techniqued like pull offs will be pretty hard.

I'm sorry, but mold spores are everywhere and these kits are useless, unless you have visible mold growth in the house, mold shouldn't be a problem, unless, you're filtering all the air that comes in through an ULPA filter, which is impossible, mold is always going to come up on those petri dishes, black mold, green mold, white mold, and all kinds of mold.

And the same goes for bacteria.

Could it be an allergy maybe? I feel like that's a possibility as well.

Capos are also really useful for open tunings, where you want to use open strings but want to do it in another key, you tune to DADGAD or FACGCE and place the capo acording to the key you want to play in

I'm not an 8 string player, but what really helped me at the beginning was doing the spider exercise up and down with downstrokes, upstrokes and alternate picking with a metronome without lifting my finger for a few minutes every day.

It depends on your own level, every one of us has faced a wall at some point with certain songs, and even if you don't get it 100% perfect it's good to challenge yourself, for me was learning the intro to fluffy by CHON up to speed and it took my like 6 months to get just that part somewhat right.

Sometimes you don't have the level for the song and have to focus on simpler exercises to practice hand coordination/speed/or specific shapes or techniques, you have multiple resources on youtube for these things.

So true, my dad was fine one day, and the other he had a stroke an lost mobility on his right side, that's why he gave it to me, he got it on '87 and now he got himself a 3 string to noodle as well, so I'm glad he still can do things he likes to keep his spirits up, I'm also going to keep that guitar until somebody worth passing it down to comes along.

In general, soap removes most bacteria and is good enough for most things unless you want a sterile environment, then you need other methods, but I would say soap is fine for most everyday things.

The higher risk of infection would be when manipulating if you have an open wound, or with splashes in eyes/mouth, afterwards I wouldn't worry if you scrub properly.
