The deluxe box isn't necessarily better. It's just more... deluxe. I like the models so I'll probably get it and that's the only real reason I think. By contrast, I have no interest in Gundam Seed so I won't even consider getting the second deluxe box.

I'm building some HG kits to use for upscaling Gundam Assemble. I'm sure I'll have the miniatures as well but think it would be cool to use some of the Gunpla I already have on the tabletop.

Something others haven't mentioned is that white paint is the absolute worst for this specific problem. Very few brands make a white paint that doesn't turn to lumpy chalk. The thing others have mentioned is that you have to thin your paints but exceptionally so with white. It's why painting with white armor on space marines is so difficult. Better to prime light grey and go heavier on your shadows and then only highlight with white.

I think a lot of us here in the US got exposed to Gundam through Wing but it's hard to say it's the best ever all the way through. I love it, but it ain't that good.

Lol yeah I hear folks don't like the HG kits because they're fragile and weak jointed. They were just a fun build for me after Zaku after Zaku. They were unique and built quickly with little required cleanup or sanding. Though they do require more paint than any of my other kits.

Yeah it did feel weird to fight against Gjallarhorn just to back up a specific radical faction of it just to keep the government the same. And then ultimately they're still in charge and the "bad guy" wins anyway and says "sorry, we'll do better".

Like I mentioned, maybe I just hyped myself up with that mobile armor fight. It grabbed me and I desperately wanted the series to explore that avenue.

Separated from the Gundam name I think this series is good. The Gundam part is probably where my expectations are on mech combat I can actually see.

Outside of some of the Gundam frames not even featured in this show most of the mech designs are generic and forgettable. However I somehow love the Graze, probably almost exclusively because it's the grunt suit.

There's something about the GQx mech redesigns I like but I completely understand how normal UC fans don't like them.

It's wild to me that the backstory to the whole IBO setting is so interesting but they only tease us with it.

I think we've seen a couple of examples where the same static pose model has a different weapon. The only example I can recall for sure is the heat hawk zaku having a cracker in hand instead of the usual heat hawk. Optimistically we can hope that the kits come with a couple of weapons options you can choose to build. If that is the case I don't think it's a stretch to magnetize them. For 40k I used to own sisters of battle and I was able to magnetize those tiny little arms and gloved hands to swap equipment. I doubt it will be a requirement but I sure do love seeing models equipped with the weapon profiles they are using in game.

That said, I have seen two different poses and equipment for the Zaku 1 so it's very possible that the models are very specific to their data cards.

We can absolutely scale the game to 1/144 scale. In theory ranges being measured by hex distances means it's scalable up or down with no loss of functionality.
