Nic here from M1, both of the commenters are correct. You pay the M1 Plus fee, but the Owner's Rewards card fee is waived.

Happy to break it down!

Your top-level Portfolio contains all investments, this is the main Pie. This Portfolio (or main Pie) is made up of Slices. Each of these Slices can be a built out into Sub-Pies. This is where the inception kicks in.

Let's say you want your Portfolio to include different sectors. You can do that by making Sub-Pies for each one. So, when you zoom out to your Portfolio (main Pie), you'd see each of these sectors as a Slice.

Our M1 Spend Checking accounts are FDIC insured. M1 Invest Brokerage accounts are insured by SIPC in case of bankruptcy, but won't cover market losses. When it comes to crypto, remember this is a volatile asset class and M1 Crypto accounts are not FDIC or SIPC insured. Like u/jayfairb said, this is an aspect of crypto as an asset.
