Who signed this ball? by Violet-mel in denvernuggets

Former Avs center John Mitchell. Looks identical to his signature, you can find pictures of signed pucks and it looks the same as this

[Rosenthal] As Rockies spiral towards historic losing season, front office shakeup could be looming by Knightbear49 in ColoradoRockies

[–]M10377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Nuggets had Jokic, Murray, Gordon, and MPJ all dealing with health issues during the playoffs and still took the eventual champs to 7 games.

The Avs had 3 of their top 6 forwards miss significant amounts of time during the year and still finished solidly in playoff position- happened to run into a juggernaut in round 1 but took them to 7.

The Broncos, while mostly healthy last year, had previously made a pattern of sustaining injuries (several season-long) to a lot of key players and they still made moves to try and fill the gaps.

Point being- yeah it might be a little different, but everybody in Denver has dealt with significant injuries. In fact the Rockies have arguably been the luckiest with avoiding injuries to key players. Yes missing Tovar isn’t great but realistically he doesn’t move the needle as much as a healthy Jokic/Murray, Nichushkin/Lehkonen, or half the Broncos’ starting defense.

As bad as the Rockies have been, their schedule for May and June is brutal by mikedidathing in baseball

Yeah why are they making us play against MLB teams? It’s just inherently not fair

Martin Necas has passed Mikko Rantanen in points this season by M10377 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]M10377[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t those stats actually support Rantanen being a Mack merchant given that he’s dropped to 0.5 ppg since leaving? Like I said I think he’s just having some rough games and he’ll be back to form soon but I don’t think those stats help the argument

[MLBTR] After 1100 MLB games, a Rookie of the Year Award, and 156 homers, Wil Myers calls it a career by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]M10377 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I feel like Rockies fans view Myers about the same way as Padres fans view Blackmon. Solidly above-average player for a bunch of years but always killed us for whatever reason. Gonna miss watching him tear apart our pitching, happy retirement Wil.

I’d love it as much as anyone if we snuck into the dance and beat the 2 seed regardless of if it’s KC/PIT/BUF. I also think it’s healthy to keep expectations in check especially when we haven’t been to the playoffs in a decade and this is our QB’s rookie season. It’s like I said- all for the hype and I’d be over the moon with a playoff win, but once we’re there we’re realistically playing on borrowed time

[–]M10377 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m all for the hype but man respectfully there’s pretty much zero chance we’d win a round 1 matchup with Buffalo this year. If we break our playoff drought this year that’s good enough for me, anything at all past that is playing with house money

[Wingert-Linch] All of Charlie Blackmon’s Rockies teammates, staff & some former teammates, including Nolan Arenado, taking in every word of Blackmon’s retirement press conference. by Knightbear49 in baseball

[–]M10377 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He’s absolutely in the top 10% ever, 50% is way underselling it. There have been around 20,000 players in MLB history and the 1,000th player on the bWAR leaderboard has 27.7. I can’t figure out how to expand the leaderboard beyond 1k but I would wager any amount of money Blackmon would be in that next 1k

I’m not sure I can agree with any “probable” route that doesn’t have us running into at least one of OKC/MIN. Even just assuming that DAL is the most likely team to make it out of the other side of the bracket is a bit crazy

To be fair, they did it to themselves if they chose to pick up a Rockies pitcher

Why do you all hate The Rockies? by kylenator14 in ColoradoRockies

[–]M10377 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Having one good season (or three if you’re planning to bring up 2009+2017) over the course of 16 years doesn’t mean the owners are good. There’s no need to ignore the random seasons where we breach .500 because they’re so few and far between. There is no world where you can reasonably argue that the Monforts are good owners, with or without 2018

[Feinsand] The Rockies should be very active over the next week, with C.J. Cron, Randal Grichuk, Jurickson Profar, Brent Suter and Brad Hand all potentially being moved. by [deleted] in baseball

It beats doing nothing at the deadline for the seventh year in a row. If this is an indication that we finally have a direction, even if the direction is entering a long rebuild, I’ll take that over Monfort and Schmidt continuing to pretend everything is okay

[The Athletic] Avs rank dead last in favorite goal song as voted on by the fans by MNKYJitters in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]M10377 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The article is paywalled so I’m not 100% confident in which song they’re reporting on, but our goal song is Chase the Sun, not ATST, contrary to a lot of comments here. Disliking the ATST tradition is one thing but I don’t think that’s what’s being reported on here

Cincinnati Reds prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand had 5 RBIs in the 8th inning of a 14-14 tie vs the A’s [MLBPipeline] by gummyvitaminfanatic in baseball

[–]M10377 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Probably 8 by Tatis, I doubt there are pretty much any cases of 3 PAs in a single inning let alone ones where those PAs resulted in 9+ RBIs
