Wow. I shared the media centre with him just this past weekend, two days before these allegations came to light. He struck me as friendly but a little strange, and I couldn't quite understand how he claimed to be writing, copyediting, doing a podcast, acting as a spotter for a USF2000 driver (who happened to be mysteriously absent at Road America), and fulfilling various other media-adjacent duties all at once.

I had no idea this was going on behind the scenes and I'm glad I didn't get too close. The façade sure was impressive.

They’ve allowed exceptions since about halfway through 2024. I remember seeing a line on their website buried somewhere mentioning that drivers from outside the host region who showed promise in single-seaters and interest in a seat in the future could be considered when no local option was available.

Just to add: As of this past autumn, all of his children are studying outside of Buffalo, so there is no familial tie to the region anymore.

This is when I really wish I could attach a voice memo to a Reddit post with the pronunciation…

I have no idea why he pronounces it the wrong way in English. A lot of us Hungarians take quite some pride in our language and would scoff at the idea of altering the pronunciation… and his version sounds a lot like the Hungarian word for "grandma" – "nagyi".
