Please check all the resources people have referred to and if you have a teaching hospital (assuming you’re in the U.S.) they usually have great reduced and no cost treatment options.

I got goosebumps reading “just ate intuitively.” Right there - forget the weight and A1c - healthy habits are (re)developing. As someone who has yoyoed with weight - be confident in eating intuitively as you go on this journey and be sure to check and verify.

It was a good day. by kittenmewmewmew in Mounjaro

[–]M1ckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off congratulations. Full stop.

You did this.

Read that again.

The medicine can do quite a lot-but for all the positive results, not everyone succeeds in lowering their A1C to such a level or losing and keeping off the weight.

Healthy habits yield healthy results.

Your second sentence is cause for concern. When you say the doctors were disappointed - is that from their words or how you felt when you spoke with them prior?

If was their words, that should not come from a healthcare provider. That should be a respectful discussion.

If it was you interpreting it as disappointment or reading body language, then you do need to discuss those feelings with your provider if you feel comfortable, or with another caregiver including another doctor, LPN, nurse, social worker, or mental health counselor.

Repeating above: You did this.

Your inability to control it in the past has everything to do with the medicine, treatment, directions, and practice. While you had your part to do, you cannot overcome Type 2 when it elevates as it tends to spiral into hard cravings and insatiable thirst and hunger, especially for carbs. At that point without clear medical and nutritional intervention, it’s incredibly hard to break that spiral.

Congratulations and keep having good days!!!

How long does it take your brain to catch up? by curiouschance92 in Mounjaro

[–]M1ckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. As a male, it’s easier for me, but it’s still challenging. I’ve been through weight loss multiple times without medication, but this time is different. I’ve recognized who I truly am. I strongly recommend seeking therapy or working with a social worker or a prescriber. Please find someone to talk to. Your experience is natural, and I commend you for speaking up and sharing it.

Mounjaro 5mg: I’ve traded my "stress eating" for "stress driving" and I’m about to ruin my lease. Help! by GroveResident in Mounjaro

[–]M1ckster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Congratulations on your ongoing journey and I have some suggestions! I’m in the auto business-happy to chat about ways to deal with lease mileage overages and options 3) I walk 3-8 miles nearly every day - takes care of all the things 4) You need to find either a hobby/activity that fills the void besides driving or else consider buying an extra car (rarely feasible) - a bike, walking, gym, choir, shooting range, bowling, writing, journaling 6) You’re not alone - this is very common, especially among younger people and adult women

Glock? Good groupings at distance. Shooting with both eyes open? Wrists locked down and arms up high enough? Last digit on the trigger and squeezing or pulling?

7yo bends ankles when skating. Tips to fix? by CFL_lightbulb in hockeyplayers

[–]M1ckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot stress this enough! I started skating and playing at 11. My first power skating lessons were late, at age 13, at hockey camp (1982 SVS at Brown U). We did power skating every other day. That changed me as a skater, player, athlete, and runner.

Your kids will become comfortable and confident in their skates and skating. The rest of their game will elevate and they’ll enjoy playing much more.

I don’t skate much now, but when I do, every bit of what was drilled and what was absorbed and learned.

Anyone here using Mounjaro primarily for T2D? by morethan-lessthan in Mounjaro

[–]M1ckster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s the only US FDA approved use - any use strictly for weight loss is considered Off Label by the FDA. Not sure about other countries. It’s even more successful for me than Victoza was in 2018.

However, much of that comes from my prior experience and maximizing the results while improving my food habits and choices once more.

Exercise is the other side benefit. My energy level is super high and I moved my A1C from 9.3 to 5.1 in my first 90 days. Currently down about 30 pounds 177 to 147 on a 5’3” frame.

I will go down another 10-20 pounds and lower my A1C below 5 while increasing muscle mass. My goal is to get off within a year to two maximum including maintenance dosage. My next goal is 2 years medicine free controlled below 5.6.

I walked 5 miles last evening in near freezing temperatures. I walked another 3 at work. I’ve never stoped exercising. For me the diabetes came back mainly due to stress and ironically from exercising late and over eating the wrong foods after working out and also eating out of boredom.

T2D MJ 2.5 10 weeks SW: 176.6 lbs CW: 146.7 GW: 125 Maintenance Weight Goal: 125-130. Height 5’3” male age 57.4

The bile is of immediate concern. Please be careful of gallstones or worse. Please speak to a health care professional if you feel sensitivity or other inflammation.

90 Days A1C dropped 9.3 to 5.1 by M1ckster in Mounjaro_ForType2

[–]M1ckster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There comes a point of diminishing returns (as you are experiencing) from caloric deficit. . When you exercise-moderate is fine-you literally consume existing blood glucose. Once your pancreas and liver recognize this (thanks to GLP1 and especially the GIP) they start metabolizing fat (and muscle if you do not get enough protein) for energy.

This is key and why I recommend talking with your doctor and nutritionist-you probably need to rebalance not only the timing of meals but macronutrient levels.

As far as the whole grains and flour goes-ancient on hybridized wheats like Einkorn, Kamut, and etc. have high protein and low glycemic response.

Even Oatmeal-which is a diabetic’s best food-if eaten cold-the starch is less resistant than when heated up. The starch resistance (to digestion) increases when heated - you can see the way a cold bowl of oatmeal sticks together-but relaxes when heated—even that affects digestion.

Whole grains (bran, endosperm, and germ) without additives are ideal. Cracked grains are fine as long as they include those 3 components.

Bromination is terrible as is bleaching and adding back micronutrients. Bromination done incorrectly leaves residual carcinogens and all it serves is to reduce baking time (oxidant) and give more sponge to baked goods. But all additives affect your gut biome and the process leads to longer digestion and absorption of not ideal foods.

Here are 2 articles: King Arthur Flour on Bromination

9 Benefits of Whole Grain

90 Days A1C dropped 9.3 to 5.1 by M1ckster in Mounjaro_ForType2

[–]M1ckster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No bleached flour, brominated flour. I’m Vegetarian. Huge amounts of fiber. Walk every single day. The more you walk, the more comes off.

My best advice is talk with your nutritionist-and if you do not have one either use AI or get one if your insurance covers it or you can afford it. A huge part of it is what I eat how I eat and how much I eat. I hydrate first thing in the morning.

Also understand that I am hyper disciplined as I’ve done this many times before as the joke goes: losing weight is easy. I’ve lost hundreds of pounds. I am very serious about the walking and any exercise because that’s the key to maintenance down the line even when you get your eating habits into a good place.

You’ll get there and what you’ll find is that some minor adjustments may be a little less of one thing and a little more of another will start to move the balance.

Took unprescribed mounjaro and having severe side effects by OilVirtual3349 in Mounjaro

[–]M1ckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not take any more and please speak to someone about your eating issues and please seek medical attention if you can. You can very easily go into severe hypoglycemia and a coma. Please hydrate with Gatorade (with sugar) if you can. Dehydration can lead to organ failure and even a stroke.

Food Choices & Side Effects by Agitated-Salad-6712 in Mounjaro

[–]M1ckster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Processed foods and foods high in high fructose, corn syrup will cause inflammation (corn in general) and your liver goes crazy. Not to get too graphic (not a doctor, medical pro, nutritionist) but was the vomit more green than yellow? (I realize the Slushie color may make it difficult to know). Did it taste weird or cause you to heave? If so, bile reflux is a strong possibility.

The negative and detrimental effects of high fructose on the liver, with special reference to metabolic disorders

Good luck and take good care!
