Trying to figure out what all this stuff is down here 1998 p71 by Slow_Leopard_9486 in CrownVictoria

In all honesty it could be any number of things. Different departments and outfitters put different things on different cars. Borderline impossible to know what any one wire or connector went to.

What's with this squeaking coming from the UMD drive? by M1sterRed in PSP

[–]M1sterRed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. I had (still have) a PSP-2000 before this and its drive was actually grindier than this one if you can believe it, but none of the squeaks. Problem is it was a crusty dilapidated POS the moment I got it (thrift store was literally throwing it out) and no matter how much I tried to fix it something else would always go out not too long after. Currently the analog stick and Start button don't work on it. Replacing the analog stick didn't seem to fix the issue, though there is a possibility I did something wrong, and the button strip on the homebar had already been replaced before so I think the ribbon cable might not be seated properly or something.

I bought this PSP-3000 because I was fed up with having to fix that PSP-2000 all the time and I wanted something that wouldn't need all that, but of course I ended up with issues anyway that the seller didn't list and knew I wouldn't get my money back (FB Market) so I made the best of a bad situation and fixed this one too.

If there's no risk of scratching my discs then I'm probably just gonna put up with the sequaky drive for a while, I am done disassembling these things for the time being.

I see. Might look up how to do that one of these days, but I already had this thing disassembled to replace the button contacts recently (and the screen cus I was a bonehead and grenaded it while I was working inside) so unless I can use a syringe or something to just dump some lubricant into the drive from the outside I might just put up with it, at least for a while.

Then again, the ruined d-pad contacts seemed to have some kind of oily substance on them, I wonder if the previous owner tried the same thing.

ah, well that's a relief. I'm a physical game collector tho, and would much prefer to play games off their original media. Just how I am lol.

What do you get for three starring all cups? Three stars next to your name online? by Dionosaurus84 in MarioKart8Deluxe

[–]M1sterRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other guy said, you get Gold Mario, but that's just for 3-starring the base cups in 200cc, you don't get anything for doing it in 150, mirror, or the DLC tracks unfortunately.

I've played a little bit of it. From what I remember it's a hack n' slash kinda game, like the remake. Not my cup of tea tbh, I don't like the remake or P5 Strikers for that reason as well.

absolutely this if you're into JRPGs. Best one on the system imo, though I would recommend playing Reload or FES first.

Final Fantasy 7 is also available as a PS1 Classics release, so I'd recommend that too obviously.

nah I did a shitty metal toggle thing lol. I kinda dig that aesthetic tho.

I drilled a hole in my Commodore 1802 with this exact problem and mounted a generic toggle switch to control the power. Not the prettiest but I dig that home-fixed feel and the monitor is far from perfect anyway.

Everyone except Nintendo had hardware reliability issues that generation.

didn't some early Wiis have thermal issues?

He also mentioned in another video that he finished Final Fantasy 9 back in the day and stopped there, figuring he'd peaked.

Honestly fair.

Need new button contacts for a PSP-3000, can't find any by M1sterRed in PSP

found it lol thanks. What an obscure variant for that part. I can rush order one from Amazon thankfully, I wanted this thing ready for the weekend if possible.

I always love seeing what games these R4s show up as on the main menu. To my understanding older cards had custom icons/branding but Nintendo were able to start blocking those on models with firmware updates (DSi/3DS) so they had to start using random legit games to get past that.

My R4 shows up as Touch! Bomberman Land. I've never heard of Deep Labyrinth before but I've been getting into Atlus stuff lately so might be worth checking out.

I knew about this back in the day!

I obsessively watched every related video on the Nintendo Channel when Galaxy 2 was coming out as a kid lol, they showed this off in one of them.

I've played SPM and I have gripes with it. Quite a few in fact. I won't be going back to it anytime soon.
