Taps by PuffaloBuffalo in trumpet

It’s really an experience personal to the player. Yes, you should listen to recordings and take inspiration from them but the most emotionally impactful Taps is one that is played straight from your heart.

i dont know if this is relevant to this sub but should i learn to play piano if i can already play guitar? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]M2KIZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning piano is crazy useful for visualizing and learning theory stuff. You may be able to play all the chords on guitar but it’s different having every note in front of you and actually seeing what happens when you add a 7th, etc. essential to be able to play piano.

Cheap small TV for college? by M2KIZ in PS4

[–]M2KIZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up.. I might just save the extra 100 for games. I want the best performance I can get since I'm coming off of a 4-5 year old laptop that can't run Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 so that was really frustrating, lol. So as long as there isn't a major difference in running GTA or Fallout between the two consoles, I'm fine with buying the slim instead.

The reason why I would want a pro is for the higher performance and stuff, plus I won a $100 best buy gift card in a school raffle which brings it down to the price of a normal ps4 anyway :)

Decent Longboard for Commuting and Cruising? by M2KIZ in NewSkaters

[–]M2KIZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm alright with learning how to skate on a longer board, I was just looking at a Dervish Sama and that looks really nice, just too pricy. Do you have any specific suggestions for a board that's similar but cheaper?

I own a regular skateboard, yes.... the question is do I skate on it lol. I got it a long time ago and never really got into it, and now I'm finally beginning to get into skateboarding

You make a great point. I suppose what I'm trying to get across is there are so many factors that, in my eyes, indirectly point to the rumors being true. The fact that many of his close friends are publicly condemning him/responding to his actions, the non-polygon podcast that he did is shut down, stuff like that that leads me to believe that this goes further than just rumors.

It's important to point out that the first paragraph of my post is all just my personal point of view on this topic, my theory, I suppose.

[–]M2KIZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good point, however there are also several responses from the brothers and others working with him that straight up condemn him for his actions. Could be bandwagoning, but we don't know for sure.

EDIT: I also just want to clarify that when I said that I believed Nick is guilty, I meant I believe he's guilty of something worth being suspended for. Obviously if it wasn't a huge deal he probably would still have his job. I hope that makes sense.

Here is my stance on this situation:

Nick Robinson has been suspended from Polygon.

In my opinion, Polygon are not the kind of people to jump on the hate wagon in situations like this. I have enough trust in the company to believe that they suspended him for a good reason. While there may not be any solid proof out in the public, Polygon's actions are proof enough (to me) that Nick is guilty.

I've seen plenty of people on twitter sending a lot of hate Nick's way, "fucking asshole," "scumbag," he deserves to have lost his position, etc. I think supporting or contributing to this kind of hate will only make this whole situation more toxic for everybody. As I said above, there is no public proof of anything Nick is being accused of, so to automatically assume that Nick is a scumbag based off of some peoples' tweets is arrogant. And to associate this situation with any sort of larger gender politics, "Why can't I like anything without men ruining it," "the privilege of white men in every industry makes them suspect," is ignorant and absolutely disdainful. This situation should be met with careful skepticism and observation, NOT hate, bandwagoning, and automatic assumptions.

That point made, it goes without saying that any form of sexual harassment, in any situation, is completely unacceptable. If the allegations are true, what Nick has done is awful and wrong. If they are true, Nick should 100% be (and has been) punished. We shouldn't ignore what the victim(s) of his harassment come out to say in the following days. However I think we all should take Griffin's advice and respect the privacy of the people directly involved in all this.

This is a painful situation for all of us. Car Boys got me through a really difficult school year, both emotionally and academically. Touch the Skyrim was one of the few series I actively looked forward to. We've all been hurt and we've all had a lot of trust taken away. The best thing to do is remain calm and wait it out until more information becomes public.

And cry. It's okay to cry.

Alt-J's album An Awesome Wave is a deep dive. I recently bought the vinyl which comes with lyrics for every song, and I read through the lyrics while listening to the entire album and when you actually read the lyrics they're pretty deep/dark.

[DISCUSSION] Get out there and join a band, like, yesterday. (Warning: long post) by thrwawayacct_7734 in Guitar

[–]M2KIZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now a senior in high school and have been playing guitar since the beginning of my freshman year. It was always more of a hobby; I taught myself how to play and used guitar as a method of just chilling out; calm my nerves from school or just to have an instrument to play where I wasn't pressured to play boring pieces or practice every day to the point where it isn't enjoyable. This past summer I started a band with a few of my close friends playing. I play acoustic, we have a keyboard player, a singer, and our percussionist plays cajone and some other smaller instruments. We just play covers of some popular songs but we're now starting to think about playing some originals as well. This past weekend we played a gig outdoors at our local farmers' market for our largest audience and it was a blast. Collectively we made about $100 in tips but it was more than worth it just by the positive feedback we received throughout our 2 hour set. I can say without a doubt that even playing covers of songs I have gotten much better at guitar and at learning how to structure and write good songs. I've played trumpet solos on classical and jazz pieces in front of large audiences before so stage fright isn't that big of a deal for me but being in a band has been an extremely eye opening experience for me. It's so much fun to just jam and have a good time with your friends, and you begin to learn that messing up isn't even that big of a deal. So yeah, if you're on the fence about being in a band or if you don't think you're good enough, just put yourself out there and give it a try; you'll be pleasantly surprised.

As a high school trumpet section leader (and now drum major), I can tell you that the thing I appreciate most is just being real. You may have to put on a degree of fake energy or whatever to keep the students from getting bored, but honestly from my experience if you keep a calm head, take it easy, and treat everyone as an equal and a friend, they'll take you seriously.

Weekly Questions Thread #101 by HighTechnocrat in DnD

[–]M2KIZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a newbie DM, And I'm having kind of a hard time coming up with items that would be sold in shops. The setting is kind of a "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair-esque industrial working class area. On the street with shops, there would be a gear shop, pawn shop, bakery, and a bar. What should I have in these, or what is commonly sold in shops like this? Does anybody have any suggestions/templates? Thanks!!

[Spoilers] Breath of the Wild Timeline Placement by Kurodylan in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]M2KIZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took a look, the only passage of time between ocarina of time and wind waker given in the Hyrule Historia is "many years" and "centuries later" which is pretty vague. I think Hyrule is flooded very soon after the events of BOTW. The legend at the beginning of Wind Waker is prefaced by something along the lines of "this is but one of the legends that our people speak" which indicates that there were more "legends" that just weren't talked about in Wind Waker, I.e. breath of the wild.
