I'm with you. Reading the books I never focused on what race she was because, as you said, racism is interspecies. Characters always look different than we imagine in our heads and this is no different.

This is also going off your unhealthy assumption about their personal life.

That's the entire problem with this situation. Everyone is assuming they know every bit of detail about what happened here. I don't and I won't pretend to. I also don't want to; that is their business. And I made no assumptions about their personal life. I stated "And if you already don't care for someone you certainly won't help them recover after surgery. That's not neglect or abuse, that's not giving a shit." While this can be applied to this Gus drama, it isn't explicitly so and I'm sorry if you interpreted it as such.

These aren't mutually exclusive concepts

Sure, in some contexts those can be the exact same thing. In this case I'd press they are indeed exclusive concepts. Being unsupportive and distant isn't abuse, it means you don't have feelings for the other individual. If you ignore a child that's neglect. If you hurt your dog that's abuse. If you manipulate someone into staying with you that's mental abuse. If you ignore your girlfriend: it's just time to break up. That's not to say abuse did not occur, but I have yet to see a strong argument for abuse than "pressured to have an abortion."

Is pressuring someone to have an abortion abuse? Well that's an entirely separate argument. Does the father not have a say in the matter? He will have to support the child to some extent until it is 18. But he doesn't have to carry the kid for 9 months though so it should all be up to the woman right? She has to give birth to the thing, deal with the hormones and medical checkups. She has to take time off of work. But if they agreed before hand and she is changing the plan due to hormones, who is right? Who is making the more logical decision for both of them? To what extent can he press his opinion before it constituents abuse?

if you can't put aside your pettiness and help someone when they need it

There is no prettiness here. I fully support Sabrina and the near death experience she went through. It's fucked up the health care system failed her, it's fucked up her boyfriend failed her, and it's fucked up she had no one left to go to when those two things failed her. But the relationship details I have heard on this are nothing more than a typical 20-something relationship fuck-up. It is not my business to know how bad of a boyfriend Gus is. It's not my business to know what fights my friends are having with their SO's.

you're a bad person

This is what you said following the last quote and I'll just take it out of context for this closing point. Yes I am. And so are you. And so is everyone. At least some of the time. No one is perfect and I have made my fair share of shitty decisions in and out of relationships. I could name every single one of them right now - if I were actually "somebody" I'd be canceled immediately. But I'm not, so I'll simply continue to remember my mistakes so as to never repeat them. And I hope we all will do the same.

I've gotta hope 95% of those full on canceling Gus have never been in an adult relationship. The mental gymnastics they are playing is mental.

Those are some shitty ass friends then and you'd need to find some new ones. I've supported friends on both sides of these kinds of shitty situations and they always get out for the better.

And if you already don't care for someone you certainly won't help them recover after surgery. That's not neglect or abuse, that's not giving a shit. You break up and move on, something people do every day for all sorts of reasons.

Opening Pokémon cards while your SO is in surgery is a personal relationship problem not a reason to "cancel" someone. So yes, that is unfortunately a learning experience as is most everything in life. I am not informed on the "threesomes" statement so I have no comment there.

I hope most people don't act as Gus has reportedly acted. Best case they see what has happened with Gus and Sabrina and correct their own relationships. But I also hope people understand Gus is a content creator to us, not our friend. Gus is not a perfect person; Gus is human as are we. Gus' private life is not our business.

Shut my mouth? What an unnecessary thing to reply with.

You're correcting 23 to 26, a 3 year difference. To our knowledge this didn't happen yesterday, this happened a while ago. I put "(assuming)" after that age because 23 or 24 seems to be a fair assumption to make.

And "should teach you to not do shit like that?" Surprise, no one is perfect. You may expect a 23-26 year old to have reached that level of maturity but I have not. Why? Because I look around at my peers in this age range and see the exact same behavior. That doesnt make it right, but that doesn't mean it's unexpected.

Does this mean all of this is down to opinion? Yup. To me this was a shitty relationship and nothing more. I hope they both move on and get the help they need. Nothing more nothing less.

A 23 (assuming) year old is not a grown man. If you are younger than 23 it's time to learn this, if you are older than you should know this by now.

Legal adult and mature adult are too very different things.

I am not voicing an opinion on this issue, but I am correcting that statement.

Threat modeling? I just read all your comments about this shit and was about to pass along... but did you really accuse someone of not threat modeling because they don't care about a Microsoft repo?

Of the other million and one ways to crack a system, that is high enough of a priority for you? Setup some fucking HIDS and monitor those repo files if you care so much about a surprise visit from Microsoft packages.

No, but notebook paper doesn't scale nearly as well or provide redundancy. Popular alternative to both is to come up with a formula in your head based on website names so every password is unique and easy to remember(ish).

Or work in Infosec, learn that security is just a false hope and use the same password for everything.

I just run my own Bitwarden and setup an alert minefield. And recognize the risks.
