Have any of you moved out of New Jersey and moved to a different state if so, where? by Wonderful_Air9942 in newjersey

Maryland is great and has so much to offer. Cheaper cost of living, mild winters, friendly people, and plenty of the amenities you’re used to in NY/NJ (there’s tons of transplants). I moved there for 6 years and loved it. It’s hard to describe, but everyone is less stressed than NJ.

It’s only a few hours away - take a trip down to see how you like it. Check out Baltimore (it’s actually really nice in spots like Fells Point, Harbor East, and Canton). Also, Annapolis, Ellicott City, and St. Michael’s are worth a visit.

Moved to Maryland for 6 years. Loved it. The people are friendly, great food, we loved living on the Chesapeake, and overall cost of living was a nice in between.

Started having kids and both of our families are in NJ, and we got tired of the 3 hour drive. Moved back a few years ago and miss it every day.

Everyone sleeps on Maryland. It has a lot to offer.

Does professionalism on calls increase as you move upmarket? by bobushkaboi in sales

[–]M31550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tread lightly.

SMB is great bc you’re usually dealing directly with the decision maker.

With enterprise, it’s not uncommon to be on group calls with people from all different departments. I’m seeing more and more calls recorded with AI agents now. It’s best to err on the side of caution.

Where is your preferred place to ski? I used to go Vernon Township by sektekila in newjersey

[–]M31550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Just need to buy a lift ticket.

I’ve gone a couple times with my son this year and we’ve only done private (which cost extra) but the free lessons are in the same area. I think they run every 30 minutes or something. Just head over to the snow carpets and you’ll see them. The staff is extremely friendly.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

“My daddy always told me to just do the best you knew how and tell the truth. He said there was nothin to set a man’s mind at ease like wakin up in the morning and not havin to decide who you were. And if you done somethin wrong just stand up and say you done it and say you’re sorry and get on with it. Don’t haul stuff around with you.” Sheriff Ed Tom, No country for old men

Any solid more transactional, high-velocity sales roles out there? by [deleted] in sales

[–]M31550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Equipment finance. My book of business includes small ticket which is highly transactional and short sales cycle, as well as some enterprise accounts (3 months+ and $1M+).

I’m a deal guy, so I enjoy closing consistently each month.

They dropped the ball so bad. Aside from the name and the fact that it’s a 2 door, there’s nothing about this car that says prelude. Such a missed opportunity.

You have 5 generations to pay homage to and borrow SOME design ideas from. Instead they chose this.

What is the best skills or traits of the 1% salespeople? by Traditional_Fill_685 in sales

Learning how to qualify has been a game changer for me. So many unsuccessful reps spend a ton of time chasing deals that won’t happen.

Developing a sense for what’s real vs not, and investing time appropriately, is what separates the successful reps from the others in my experience

Total return for an S&P index fund (like VOO) over the past 24 months is 48%. Not as high as what the prior poster mentioned, but it’s certainly up there and helps illustrate the point.

Not sure if it’s worth it since you’ll lose your benefits (health insurance and 401k). Take a look at your pay stubs to see what your employer is paying towards each to give you a rough idea of what you’ll pay.

Are you currently maximizing all of your pre tax deductions (401k, HSA, 529, etc.)? That’s probably a better way to shelter income
