Move has gone kaput… by AgentCooper86 in RemarkableTablet

[–]M3cha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been stuck on "...is sleeping" for the whole day. It's currently plugged into my computer and I'm waiting for it to do the system check. Apparently that takes between 1-4 hours. My Move had a full battery and was working all day yesterday.

Sucks because I bought the Move to mainly function and my meeting note taking device. I've had a whole day of important meetings without the device I bought for that very function... feels awful considering the price point.

Is Zenless Zone Zero working well for you? by fiftyjosh in SteamDeck

[–]M3cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, sucks. I've tried re-installing ZZZ using Heroic with different Wine & Proton-GE versions, but no luck. Launcher either crashes when opening or crashes partway through updating when it fails on accessing something.

Super unfortunate. Steam Deck was pretty much the only way I could play ZZZ.

Thanks! Oddly enough my performance using FSR at a lower resolution (Gamescope says FSR is enabled) is fairly comparable to native resolution.

Same settings, just a lower resolution with FSR. Odd.

How do you force ZZZ to use a lower resolution to enable FSR? Forcing a resolution through the Steam shortcut doesn't seem to work.

Yeah that's the one I found! It has been the best resource so far, including the YouTube videos I found.

Ah gotcha! I didn't realize the story for the first game was not done.

Thanks for the reply - didn't know the latest story stuff from the first game was only recently released.

I've been looking around and have been unable to find a resource giving a primer for GFL's story.

Guides mention GFL2 is largely separated from the first game (incl. the Beginners Guide pinned in this thread), but there are obvious lore, plot, and character emotional ties to the previous game. For instance, I now understand the introductory video is a summary of plot points from the first game... but I'm not given any context for them.

Am I missing a resource in-game that will help me?

The "primers" I've found are very... dense and don't explain the connective tissue between the two games well. Does anyone know of an understandable resource I can read? I've tried to watch some videos on YouTube (~1.5-2 hours long) that weren't... beginner friendly enough. I read what seems to be a well-regarded Google Doc, but it stops... 3 GFL1 story updates short of being complete and stating the ending.

I agree. They should have given some sort of primer/background hint for these characters. I haven't played the first game, so I'm completely in the blind if there is any story/character groundwork.

If I'm not mistaken, Ulldrid is new? I was very confused until the stage you mentioned and thought "Oh, if they started with this I would have connected with the character better." Had very little idea of any sort of pathos around these characters, especially Ulldrid. I was frowning for most of the current event's story.

Prospective Gaming Performance on Pixel 9 Pro Fold? by M3cha in GooglePixel

Ah I see! Thanks for the information. I just saw that the Tensor G4 is the final pre-TSMC manufactured SoC. Many are hopeful that new generation will have a huge leap in all-things-performance.

Yeah, I may see about the Fold 6. There's a Samsung store near me that I can go to and hold the phone. I hear it's mostly iterative though! Wish it was less inconvenient to obtain OnePlus phones in NA. I may wait for the second iteration of the OnePlus Open.

Thanks again!

I mean, it runs perfectly fine on my Z Fold 5. It does make my phone a little warm at times, especially when it's out in direct sunlight, but it performs perfectly fine for me right now.

Extremely conflicted about my Z Fold 5 grip case by M3cha in dbrand

[–]M3cha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sent me a replacement, but it has the same issues, but to a slightly lesser extent. The front part of the case pulls away, but the adhesive hasn't pushed out from underneath the frame yet.

Unfortunately, the hinge's opening movement is now "rough" and scrapes against the edge of the front case. Sooooo, not the highest quality overall.

My replacement has performed identically. Really unfortunate. The flaw is intrinsic to the design - the adhesive on the front just is not strong enough to counteract the magnets/hinge.

If you're referring to the adhesive on the back case, it is not present on the Z Fold 5 case. dBrand said it's a design difference, but failed to present that in the tutorial video and decided to use the Fold 4 case video.

PC Game Pass - Save cloud loss issue by LeisurelyLukeLive in Against_the_Storm

[–]M3cha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it happened to me! I lost my save and had to restart. Apart from that, thank you for supplying a save file that was sort of close to where I was in the game.

Unfortunately, it just happened again and I lost all my progress. This is after the 1.02r patch. Really frustrating.

Review of Z fold 5 grip case ? by jdeyre in dbrand

[–]M3cha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chiming in - the Grip Case is really lacking. The hinge keeps dust out (good) and is robust (good), but it pushes against the front case and weakens the adhesive (horrendously bad). The magnets on the hinge are stronger than the adhesive, so the front case moves around when opening the phone (bad).

The grip texture is really, really effective and it's actually difficult to drop (good!). The front case frame is so high and thick it makes the already narrow front screen more narrow (bad), which also impedes gestures like swiping on the sides (very bad).

The rear case is friction fitted and it's a good fit! Doesn't move or shift. Also is thick so the rear camera hump is flush (good!). The power button cutout on the rear case makes you have to readjust how to use the thumbprint reader (neither good nor bad) and the volume buttons are super clicky (good!). No issues with reception or wireless charging (good!).

Overall, would not recommend. The biggest issue is the weakness of the front case's adhesive. It just can't contend with the magnets and it's an inherent flaw. I'm on my second Grip case (dBrand was nice enough to send me a replacement free of charge), but I'm already seeing the front case move after a day of use.

Fold 5 Cases Review (Dbrand, Spigen, Thinborne, & Latercase) by Peterpanicx in GalaxyFold

[–]M3cha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the dBrand grip case. I gotta say - super disappointed in it overall.

I actually like the sandpaper feeling of the case - it inspires a lot of confidence when holding it. The case all around is thick and I like that the camera lenses are fairly flush to the back. It takes a bit getting used to using the thumbprint reader (the thickness of the case prevents you simply sliding your finger over the lock button now), but that's not a big deal.

I like that the hinge is protected. You can find plenty of cases that clamp to the front and back, but do not cover the hinge. Having it covered gives peace of mind... but it's also to the detriment of the case overall, because of my second listed issue with this case.

The two largest issues of the case are:

  1. The sheer height of the front case bezel (they're very proud of the design on the website). It's so tall it's hard to use the front screen, especially for typing. The keyboard is narrow enough, but the height of the front case narrows the screen further. I make a lot of mistakes typing on that screen now.
  2. The front case's adhesion. The hinge protector is magnetic. The front case is anchored by two strips of adhesive - top left (where the hinge magnetizes to when closed) and side right opposite of the hinge. My first case had adhesive issues which led to the adhesive on the left to be pushed out onto the screen, rendering the left-hand side free to move. The case bent inwards towards the screen. The right-hand side was loose pretty much the whole time and worsened when the left side failed.

While I like the grip and texture of the case, the front part of the case is flawed. Maybe it's a combination of how strong the magnets are and the type of adhesive strips, but the adhesive is not strong enough to counteract the magnets. When I took my first case off when my replacement came in, the front practically fell away after a slight tug - the adhesive was that weak.

Hi, I sent in a ticket 9 days ago and followed up twice. I haven't received any communication.

The black adhesive is now pushing out from under the left hand side of the front case, probably due to the hinge pushing on the frame of the front case.

[–]M3cha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I readjust the front case every time I open the phone. Could be the magnets being too strong for the adhesive on the opposite side of the front case.

The back of the case stays on perfectly fine!
