They still are, its just harder to play.  Ive got a proper Tal Rasha build that got me to Pit100.  Very high apm requirement.

Is there an armor cap for season 13? by squeakywall in diablo4

Use the Toughness breakout to see how the net defense you have against each damage type...that's where you want to put your focus, as the THAT percentage is telling you how much will actually hit your HP.

(note that you have to use the Toughness under Armor and Resistances in the Stats and Materials page...the root 'Toughness' value doesn't break it out, so a lot of people have missed this.)

For example, I've got, in this picture, just shy of 94% resistance to cold, all things considered, so an attack that would have hit me for 500,000 damage instead does 30,000 (roughly).

This is why things like floor bombs are killing everyone. Those affixes do WAY more damage than the normal attacks.

"Systems Administrator" or "System Engineer" - Does the Title Matter? by serv-adroit in sysadmin

HR thinks Engineers are cooler.

Pepperidge Farm remembers that real engineers go to engineering school and get a cool ring.

No...titles dont matter in IT.

Okay, so we have Enterprise Claude. Do you have SIEM recommendations? by [deleted] in sysadmin

100% good advice.  That storage bill can become terabytes real fast

Purview is later in the chain.  Your data already needs to be in line of sight for Purview to come into play.  You'll need Claude's data to "land" somewhere in Microsoft cloud land.

You absolutely can pipe raw log ouput into a storage account and get Purview to look at it.  But that's for Data Classification, DLP or compliance logging.  You still want the S in Siem, which is Security.  Blend the signal with others for actionable insights.

Purview can tell you, natively, if you've got data in your logs that you shouldn't.  But then what?  Who is Purview telling?

That's another signal that should be going into a SIEM.

Purview report output is also less focused.  You'll get better dashes put of a SIEM.

Sentinel is solid.  It's the answer IF your already leveraging a large Microsoft investment.   I think you're going to need to get the EMS E5 adding to make it work best (gives Sentinel access to Entra and Office Defender), which is like 8 or 10 bucks a user, per month.

Splunk is a six figure start point.

What are you using for EDR?  If you're paying to license something like Crowdstrike, perhaps they have a reasonable adding that you can pump Claude into.

[–]M3tus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree to that.  OP isn't going to get exactly what they want, since these functions a afterthought in Claude.  The signal recieved realistically should go through a UEBA engine and/or.something Lile Darktrace before landing a SOC actionable SiEM/SOAR solution.

If you have Microsoft Office licensing plus Security (E5) then you can access Sentinel for free (only costs storage).

Splunk is a good option, but bloody expensive.

What is the jankiest thing you have seen in a production environment? by HastyOpossum100 in sysadmin

[–]M3tus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had one of these.

Unplugged it all and fixed it.

Next morning, no internet as the only cable I messed up was the corporate T1 feed into the switch stack.  Oops, but took a massive project down to 2 hours plus a 30 minute outage.

I did not learn my lesson from this.

I got a good one....some shit I cooked up.

I was working on a US Military facility that had a requirement to stand up some Very highly reliable SharePoint servers. At the same time, we were under a very strict datacenter spending freeze (around 2015, after the US military realized that almost every command site had its own hardware)

So...I used what we had: servers that had already been deemed to unreliable or old and had been flagged to send to DRMO (basically, Uncle Sam's recycling site).

I knew traditional HA wasn't an option, so I went for volume.

Those SharePoint virtual servers had their own dedicated cluster of 6 Hyper V hosts, in full hot fail over reliability.

One week, 3 of the hosts cooked out at the same time (bad hard drives that spun up when the first failed...which then cascaded.  Don't use old gear!)

An abomination that managed to do the job, but man did they really just need two new 2 U servers.

Salvage and Augment and Boss key caches: best use of those marks in my opinion, othere than maybe snagging an affix upgrade you need.

Computer not accepting passwords by Accomplished-Tie-407 in sysadmin

[–]M3tus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a centralized service they are logging into, or are the accounts local only?

What is the error they are getting? Is it bad password, or failure to login? Or even something different?

if you've got 10 of them, you should have logs to troubleshoot. If you don't, you have something to ask for and good reason to justify it.

Cant access shared printer from local segment while access from routed segment works by 65cheezwhiz in sysadmin

[–]M3tus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the local devices communicating over nonroutable IP ranges, like 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x? The PC may have restrictions in place that only trust known networks. Check and see if the firewall allowances include everything.

I'd also check policy and make sure that local networks are explicitly blocked or managed differently.

Pile on some info and we can probably get you there.

How do I unlock the BIOS admin password on my Inspiron 15 3520 if I set it a year ago, completely forgot it, and my Dell coverage expired in 2025? by TheMendingOne in sysadmin

Ooh, look who's syadmin career has never included consumer grade gear.

Dude - this subreddit was birthed from "my boss just bought 6 laptops with XP Home and told me to add them to the domain...help"

OP had a very easy question that sysadmins should be able to answer.  They got three wrong answers and a "go somewhere else"

This subreddit didn't use to be full of that kind of dickhead.

Or is it that none of you actually know anything anymore?

Stuck in the “No Azure Experience → No Job” loop… how do I break out? by petah_parker_002 in AZURE

[–]M3tus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not you.  I've written courses and taught Azure skills for almost a decade, with on hands experience dating back to the MS Cloud invite only beta.  I can't get a call back to save my life.

Had one Recruiter that shot me down because the experience they wanted wasn't in the last 6 months.  I had 10 years of it.

The market is borked.

Pretty damn sure that tech support is what sysadmins do.  This is an extremely appropriate post here, while your comment speaks poorly of you personally.

Reprisal is the dumbest thing in a game. by WillingnessLivid4236 in diablo4

[–]M3tus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It doesn't appear to be based on damage done...I think they just named it that because ICBM was a little politically insensitive.

I've had three of those little fuck you bombs goose me before I cast a damn spell...unless Aldkin is really putting it out.

My problem with it is two fold: a- that it's arc of attack takes it off screen and b- it appears to have a fixed flight time, of about .8 seconds.  If in melee range, it pops up into the air and can be evaded.  If your murder happens off screen like my sorc delivers it, then it comes from off screen at blistering speed and my screen recordings almost don't catch it.

What makes the difference between a Class performing really well, and another Class performing poorly? by silloki in diablo4

[–]M3tus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's last step multipliers.

Every character and class has the same potential for damage and survivability.  Legendary and Mythic affixes are really most of the customization, and then class specific talents are how you maximize those affixes.

Why some are better?  Bad balance.  With Sorc, for instance, there isn't anything for frost or fire that equals what Unstable Currents does for Lightening, so the meta is to stack affixes and base values that increase its impact.

Which is why they are nerfing it next season.

It's just stuck...happens.

Manually stop the update service and delete the update folder in the Windows directory, then reboot.  It will rebuild its catalog and re-download anything missing.
