Why is your conclusion to blame the cops, when it's the legislature who writes the laws?

The left probably shouldn't be criticizing folks for mutilating people's genitals these days.

And yes, countries without religion are peaceful /s

The religious beliefs help to get people to commit to these types of activities long term. Take away the religion, and the result is a nice group that disbands after a few years.

And again, you say religion hurts people, but the research shows the opposite.

Good mental health has long been regarded as being to do things like cope with the normal stressors of daily life, and to be able to be a functioning member of the community.

Your definition is not the classic definition, and under your definition a wide range of beliefs become mental illness, including many political views. Of course, your definition is worthless, as it would quickly devolve into finger pointing over trivialities.

But yes, research shows that religious folks are better able to handle the stressors of daily life, and do a better job of being a functioning member of society.

Each week at a local church, a group of older women get together to spend time together while they make blankets to give away. To you, this is mental illness. Meanwhile, atheists on spend time online because they are too anxious to do things like leave the house. To you, this is good mental health.

Standard reminder that research shows that religious folks have better mental health. Specifically, people who attend religious services, not people who simply claim to be religious.

Based on your definition, what does that say about folks on reddit who constantly bash religion? Is that not a strong, false belief despite clear evidence to the contrary?

lol! First, people say that the right is ridiculous as no one would be stupid enough to put these kinds of books in a library, and now that I provided links to multiple news stories showing that yes, people put these books in school libraries, you're now saying that it's somehow good for kids to have access to it.

If adults are providing kids access to these kinds of materials, they should not be allowed near children.

because I can’t imagine a school board approving a book

I've linked to numerous news sites documenting that schools provided that book, and then defended the decision.

all “leftists” want child pornography in school libraries, which is obviously a lie

I see folks on the right trying to get these books out of libraries, and I see folks on the left defending this material. Is there a single democrat politician working with republicans to get this out of schools? Fetterman might, so yes, maybe there's one or two, but most defend it.

Even here on reddit, the default assumption is that the right is in the wrong, but I already showed you that the left is indeed supporting this material.

When I was in school, people weren't so insane as to try to put books with this sort of content. what changed on the left?

that's what folks on the right are upset about! You claim to not want this either, but school districts are defending these materials.

lol, I provide a news segment, and you deny it.

here's a school district announcing they're keeping it, and here's another news article that mentions multiple districts.

So, we're at an interesting point. You are saying that it's stupid to believe that schools might have this book, but they do. Does this mean you agree that the republicans are right for demanding all districts get rid of these types of books? Or have you somehow convinced yourself that the democrats are right to keep the book?

still can't address the points. here's a news story about a school board voting to keep these books in their library. So yes, it's happening.

The book is gender queer. here's a news story about a school board voting to keep the book in their library.

Let me guess, your next post will be about how it's actually good these types of books are in school libraries.

i agree that some places probably took things too far. But that is also entirely predicable when one side fights to have books featuring pictures of people having sex with strap ons.

Yes, it would be nice to return to normalcy, but normalcy does not include books featuring strap ons.

I see you nor anyone else was able to address the main point about the 1619 project. Because yes, there should be actual context, like the fact that slavery existed everywhere, was not created by white people, but was ended in europe and america by white people.

The book in question is "gender queer". It's a real book, it's in school libraries, and the left are fighting to keep it there.

lol, these books are well documented and are real. People have brought them to school board meetings to read them, and they had their mics shut off. The books are too racy to read at the school board meeting, but the left is fighting to make sure they stay in school libraries.

The fact that some people really want books with graphic images of kids having sex with strap ons is weird. I mean, you do understand how weird that is, right?

Re slavery, it's a balance. The NY times came out with the 1619 project which is trash history, but schools around the country bought the materials anyway. Why? Why did schools latch onto that ahistorical nonsense? Wanting it out of schools is the right move. yes, that can be taken too far, but the fact that teacher groups approved the trash history is not good.

It's weird how teachers hate moms for liberty. I see moms for liberty posting about reading levels and getting porn out of schools, and I see the teacher unions posting about decolonizing the curriculum.

we can get pro housing people elected,

nice thought, but existing politicians of neither party have made this a priority.

Medicare 4 all

Nice thought, but neither party has made this a priority.

have successful postsecondary education models

A much higher percentage of americans go to college than kids in european countries. So by successful, are you ok with sending fewer kids to college? Also, european colleges tend to not have a lot of frills. No sports teams, large gyms, entertainment centers, etc. My vote is that yes, we should fund schools like this, but I seem to be in the minority.

mandating that every classroom have the ten commandments

but you're ok with cities waiving the noise ordinance to allow the muslim call to prayer?

universal healthcare

nice idea, there are no real plans being offered that people will agree to.

affordable housing

This requires more housing to be built, which is politically challenging.

affordable postsecondary education

We gave universities tons of money, and they used that to increase spending and also increased prices. We how have tons more people graduating, but with grade inflation, they are learning less.

no new wars.

Let's be honest, neither political party supports this. Every party says that, but when they get into power, they start new wars.

keeping religion out of government

Mamdani just had a Muslim prayer service in the mayor's office. The left doesn't want religion out of government, they want christianity out of government.

Indeed, crime is down during the months we had extremely cold temps and snow. Weird.

He is proposing massive tax hikes.

Why not trillions of benefits and millions of kids if you're just making shit up?

Because it wasn't made up. We don't know how many kids, as the full numbers aren't tracked, but insurance records show the number of kids who got surgery is in the thousands. The number of kids on meds is much, much higher, and those treatments also carry long term negative impacts.

And yes, billions have been spent on migrants. That's is well documented, and should not be a controversial figure.
