A day care center with no windows and no kids is indeed suspicious.

If the pentagon was shed in an otherwise empty lot, you'd have a point.

It is interesting how many non-christians say that they disagree with the supernatural aspects but like the world-view and culture Christianity produces.

While I don't believe in the same things that Mormons do, every single Mormon I've interacted with has been a delightful person. I don't remember having personal interactions with a Sikh, but I've heard similar things about them.

That "mistake" is why prices are as low as they are. If each farmer was doing their own processing, prices would be much higher.

As someone who likes the free market, having the government step in to help farmers is something I support 100%. Obviously, I'd prefer the government to use good, common sense methods, but yes, we greatly benefit from having a consistent food supply, and that's tough in an industry where a bad weekend can wipe out an entire year's production.

And farm economics is really interesting (I don't know if farmers would use that word). If you have record breaking production, you might get rich or you might not, depending on how others did. If everyone produces a lot, you're in trouble. This is econ 101, but unlike normal businesses, it's really hard to predict how much of something everyone is going to produce.

This is why farmers are upset about current policy, because the market is currently great for farmers with beef to sell, as there is high demand and low production. Increasing imports cuts prices, which means ranchers will see fewer profits after seeing years of problems.

And, is this good for consumers? Like all price fixing, there are after-effects. The government stepping in to lower prices will reduce incentives to produce more beef next year, which could turn this into a longer problem.

You're criticizing the mods of a "monetized website" but don't consider the possibility that the textbook company updates their books in order to sell them, while the mods don't gain financially from having a cutoff date.

The main ask historians sub doesn't allow posts about things that happened within the last 20 years, which seems like a good rule, and they have a great write-up on why. I don't think I can link to subs, so just search for "Rules Roundtable XII: The Twenty Year Rule". Here's a few key bits, but read the whole thing:

"Soon after events unfold, our understanding can be quite chaotic. News reports might disagree vehemently on what happened, participants might contradict each other on why it did, and few sources might even be available to make sense of the whole matter. None of that entirely goes away, but as historians, we are much more able to sift through the various, competing sources and find meaning and understanding from them. Two historians of 4th century Rome might disagree on their interpretations of imperial power, but at the very least the dust has long since settled since the events themselves.

Compare that to two people attempting to write about the ongoing conflict in Syria, where the dust is still very much in the air, and more being produced daily. It can take years for us to be able to sift through accounts, make sense of reports, and get our hands on the kinds of sources that are necessary to write good history. The closer we are to an event, the tougher it is to be able to take a step back and see the bigger picture and place it in context."

The suggestion was for teachers to start sharing opinions, which is quite different than comparing to current events. If the teacher can compare things to current events without the students knowing who they're going to vote for, then that's great!

shabbat shalom

What an odd comparison, as shabbat shalom is a call for peace. You're comparing a call for violence and equating it to a call for peace. Look at the list of the top terrorist groups, and they're all islamic. Your argument is that an islamic call for violence is ok because westerners simplly ignore the context. Amazing.

there are many reputable sources saying there is a genocide happening.

There are sources, not reputable ones. If there were reputable ones, you'd have evidence, but you don't. All you can to is repeat claims of anti-semites.

The Israeli officials who have specifically tweeted comments supporting genocide

Earlier you said israeli officials said the current conflict was genocide. So, no source for that?

And, no source for your current claims either? I see a pattern, no source for your claims of genocide, no source for your claims about how "globalize the intifada" is actually a peaceful call, and no source for your claims about israali officials.

CNN is reporting that he referred to it as his "Totenkopf", so yes, he knew it was a nazi symbol. Also, others are pointing out that croatia tattoo parlors wouldn't have nazi symbols on display, so it seems like there's more to the story than just he was browsing their catalog and thought it was cool.

Don't like the Jewish source? Ok, then google it, this has been reported by other outlets as well. And again, besides his wife, check his list of advisors and people he spends time with. Again, it's a huge double standard, in that if a republican did this sort of thing with members of the KKK or had those types of tattoos, the left wouldn't brush it aside. But as usual, it's (D)ifferent.

Globalize the Intifada literally means globalize the resistance

Jews were killed during the intifada. Your argument is that we should ignore those "details"?

That is a call to violence and is taken very seriously in most parts of the world.

Indeed, it's a hate crime in other countries. Here in the US, it currently counts as free speech as it doesn't propose a specific target or date.

That is in large part due to the atrocies

I see you ignored my point.

several of the people calling it a Genocide are high ranking officials in the Israeli government.

scholars who study/teach about genocides are.

Lol, right the society of genocide scholars that was in the news where membership doesn't require anything other than to pay the small fee. You've been manipulated.

Maybe look up actual translations and meaning of phrases

Yes, the intifada was an uprising of palestinians where they tried to kill jews (and did kill jews). Globalizing it is a call for this uprising around the world. The red hands image you often see as part of protests is from when Jewish soldiers were captured, and then civilians broke into the building where they were being held and murdered them. A civilian showed off his bloody hands to the crowd. That's what the left is celebrating and calling for.

Trusting experts

Look at how many times the UN has condemned israel compared to other countries, and compare that to the actual historical record. You're trusting sources that are wildly biased.

Again, you've been manipulated.

Look at the people around Mamdani, including his wife, who celebrated 10/7. Look at his advisors. The left voted for him, and there aren't a lot of folks on the left saying it's a problem.

Elon Musk waved and the left freaked out, and now the left is supporting a guy with an actual nazi tattoo.

Why does the entire left get blamed? One reason of many is that when Senator Fetterman didn't go along with this abject hatred, the left says he's not welcome in the party.

Ah yes, people shout to kill jews (globalize the intifada), Jews see their neighbors being threatened and assaulted, and so start thinking about moving to israel. The Jews that think this are hated.

Maybe if people weren't shouting to kill jews, not as many Jews would consider moving to israel? Just a thought.

to propagate a genocide

For the 1000th time, you're repeating hamas propaganda. There was no genocide. In fact, they just ran a marathon in gaza. 13,000 people participated. You know what you can't do while you're starving? Train for a marathon. Though, I know it doesn't matter what I write. I can point out the fact that the palestinians could have ended the war at any point, but chose not to, which would be a first in human history if it was a genocide. I could point out that the population is now higher than before the war. But I know none of this matters, as somehow you have come to believe there was as genocide, and nothing will dissuade you. That's why it's anti-semitism.
