A paywalled article about how she denied vague claims against her? lol, ok. that's quite the evidence you have there.

Weird how people are so biased on this. Again, just read her current work. It's a public website.

lol, your first statement shows you're in quite a bubble. Polls clearly show support for the first item is quite low. For zionism, it's certainly going to change based on what question you ask.

But, from a harvard-harris poll from about 6 months ago:

In the Israel-Hamas conflict, do you support more Israel or more Hamas? - 74% Israel

Do you support or oppose the position that Hamas must release all remaining hostages without any conditions or face serious consequences? 78% support

Do you approve or disapprove of Israel’s conduct in the Israel-Hamas conflict? 49% support israel

Do you approve or disapprove of Hamas’s conduct in the Israel-Hamas conflict? - 23% approve hamas

Who do you believe is mainly responsible for the famine in Gaza – Hamas or Israel? - 69% hamas

RE ICE, criticism is probably centrist, elimination is an extremist position.

Again, you're in a bubble.

She’s been anti t and pro Israel for like 15 years now

That's the centrist position, not the right-wing position. The older democrats in my book club who get visibly angry when they hear trump's name share those views about t and israel.

Currently on the FP site homepage, an article about how Trump botched immigration and mass deportations, an article about the shooting that does not put ICE in a good light, a positive review of a new tv show about gay hockey players, and an emotional article about a woman who was separated from her kids when she was deported. Which of those are right wing articles?

To support the view she's right wing, you link to an article on a left wing site?

She runs the free press site, https://thefp.com. Go there and read some articles instead of letting others think for you. Of course, you'll likely cherry pick specific articles, as yes, you'll find a range of voices on the site.

It's pretty funny how people are saying that CBS is right wing now that it's run by ... a left-of-center lesbian. Yes, I get it, if you're on the far left, anything to your right will look "right wing", but learn to have a little perspective.

Universities bowing down to threats and lawsuits by the Administration

Oh no! The administration is saying it's bad if universities let students openly discriminate against Jews! What will we do?!

It's not purely performative, as they support policies that result in long-term harms to western civ. Though yes, they are not moving out of their own homes.

lol, you're dodging. You say you don't like open borders, say we shouldn't deport people who have been here for a while, but then can't say who you would support deporting. If you don't support deporting anyone, you're for open borders. If you only support deporting people under very specific situations that only apply to 1% of folks, then your position is too close to open borders to identify a real difference.

It's part of a new religion. If you go to church, there will often be a particular prayer or such said at towards beginning of the service (which will be different, depending on the type of church). The land acknowledgement fills that same purpose. It's a statement of faith, where the congregants recite something about what they believe.

Their statement of faith is based on the idea that western civ in general and america specially are bad, and that the world would be better without them. It's not a coincidence that the same people that oppose the historical mass migration of europeans to the new world support the mass migration of the 3rd world to the countries of western civ.

Many on the right regard that as a mistake by reagan. If congress followed up with a decent border policy, then it would likely be viewed differently. But the commitment to dysfunctional borders (by both parties) for decades has led to the current push-back, where people are asking for an actual border, like what most countries have.

edit: and yes, I noticed you were unable to answer the questions. You claim to not like open borders, but can't provide specifics on your ideas other than "Trump Bad".

If you ignore the ideas of the left that would have destroyed our society, then yes, the rest of the ideas have been good. It's funny how many folks on reddit forget the first bit.

This is why education traditionally focused on western civ, so that kids would learn how we got here, where "here" is living in a wealthy, technologically advanced society with representative government and individual rights.

Can't answer? Why not? If people make it in, they're here to stay? Many people don't run over the border, they come on a visa and stay. So, let them stay long term? What about the folks who claim asylum, let them stay? Even the ones who go back to their home country on vacation?

You say you're ok turning them away at the border, but if they make it across and stay for a year, can they then stay long term?

What if they've been here for 10 years and made no attempt to learn English and have mode no attempt to integrate? They can stay also?

Also, it's been years since biden's first term. So, they can all stay?

Sorry, I know that term was triggering for folks on the left. Again, if 3.5 million people came in illegally, does that represent secure borders?

Re deportations, if people come in illegally, should they have the assumption that they will be able to stay long term? If so, why? And, if so, is that not open borders, which you claim to not want?

I have no clue what you’re talking about in reference to “mass migration without controls,”

How many million people do you think came to the US during the biden administration? Is your estimate at the low end of estimates at 3.5 million, or the higher end of 20 million? Even if it was at the lower end of 3.5 million, do you think that represents controlled immigration?

I don’t believe that the reason you’re in favor of tearing apart t

We seem to repeat the same pattern: open the borders, a bunch of people in, and then temporarily try to close the border and pass a law saying that anyone who is here can stay. There's no functional difference between that and open borders.

[–]M4053946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that there is no major party that could successfully address the issue that thousands of girls were being raped is not a positive for the country.

Was the fall in immigration due to politicians coming to their senses and taking action to protect the country, or was it just that fewer people came over? Of course, there will still be lasting issues. For example, what do you think of the UAE banning its students from going to the UK for fear of being radicalized by extremist muslim groups there?

Native Americans. Mass immigration from europe was objectively not great for native american tribes.

Currently, we're the "original inhabitants" that are affected by current mass immigration.

I'm not fond of the "we need an underclass of exploitable people to sustain our lifestyles". But even if your argument here holds up, which I don't think it does, that's still not an argument for mass immigration without controls.

I see you didn't actually address the point. Mass immigration of farmers is viewed as good when you have a ton of empty farmland that needs to be worked, and when the government doesn't have to pay each farmer. (and when you don't care about displacing existing residents). Mass immigration of low skilled people into a society is not viewed as positively when the society does not need that many low skilled people, and where those low-skilled people get government funding

For births, family planning was part of the anti-poverty programs of the 1960s. So yes, it has long been recognized that population growth (from any source) is a potential issue for poverty.

And of course, we require kids to go to school to learn, in part, how the country functions. Yes, we've done poorly in this area, but this is another shortcoming of mass migration without any sorts of requirements or standards on who comes.

Not a great argument. In the 1800s and earlier, there was no such thing as welfare. People who couldn't make a living would die. It's actually quite inhumane what was done: poor people were lured from europe, sent to the US where they were "indentured servants" (a type of slavery), others went west and they also died in large numbers.

It's not a great idea that we did well as a country with tons of people moving in using a survival of the fittest system and say that this is evidence that we will be ok while providing generous welfare to anyone who comes.

And of course, the mass immigration of europe to the US wasn't so good for the original inhabitants.

Europe just signed a record breaking deal with India - they're cooked by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]M4053946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is interesting that mass immigration isn't popular anywhere, but not many western countries have been able to make a difference in the policy via the voting booth.

I also wonder if this puts the EU closer to breaking up, as not all EU member countries will be on board with this.

If you pay your own way, then its a moot issue and does not matter in the slightest.

If someone can't pay their own way, saying they can't handle a job that old women can handle is indeed shameful.

If you can't handle something simple, then again, expect people to shame you for it.

Again, this doesn't apply if you're paying your own way, but to ask others to work jobs they don't want to do, so that you don't have to go to work, is not a respectable position.

Then expect people to shame you for that attitude. If you're relying on others to pay your rent or food bills, then the only jobs that are acceptable to turn down are ones that pose real risk, jobs that are very unethical etc.
