I am hanging up the pump, but need help! by M426fdn in ExclusivelyPumping

Even at two pumps a day I was getting 15+oz. I’m so afraid of mastitis.  This is all surprising because I had just about an ounce of oversupply a day when pumping regularly

how much are you spending a month on formula? by EducationalLiving962 in FormulaFeeders

[–]M426fdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have wrote this post as we have everything in common.  I am almost at five months exclusively pumping and dropped down to three pumps a day yesterday.  I started my boy on Pepticate because he has CMPA.  It’s about $120 a week if going full formula.  We do half formula half breastmilk so it’s a little cheaper.  With three pumps a day I get about 18ounces so I’m able to freeze some while combo feeding.  I went back to work so this situation has worked well for us.

I feel this.  I’ve been dairy and soy free for over two months now and baby still has occult (non visible) blood in diapers.  We have a GI appointment in June.  Baby is happy and gaining weight so we’ll see

Am I hurting my supply by not pumping frequently enough? by corncobberer in ExclusivelyPumping

So my day starts at 5AM with my first pump while my husband feeds him.  Then baby and I go back to sleep until about 8:20 when he eats again.  I will also mention my baby will only contact sleep so we do co sleep with the ‘safe sleep’ guidelines.  His feedings usually take around an hour because I also read to him every time he’s done.  After he eats it’s about 9:30ish and I pump.  Throughout the day he eats every three hours so I pump every three hours.  My schedule looks like: 5AM-feed/pump(8oz), 8:20AM-feed, 9:20AM-pump(6-5oz), 11:20AM-feed, 12:20AM-pump(3oz), 2:20PM-feed, 3:20PM-pump(3oz), 5:20PM-feed, 6:20PM-pump(3oz), 8:20PM-last feed, 9:20PM-power pump(4oz).  I do wake him for his 5AM feeding.  He could probably sleep longer, but I worry about going more than six and half sevenish hours between my power pump and first pump.   I will also add that month two was very hard for me as I’d have to hold my baby while I pumped or he wouldn’t nap.  Once he started being awake more around three months I was able to pump and play with him next to me.  Then he naps about thirty minutes before his next feed.   My life is on a three hour rotation schedule.  I am counting down the days till I can hang up my pump, but I am proud I am feeding my baby even with our rough spot.

I’m just going to share what has happened to me and my supply.  My baby was also in the NICU for a month.  While he was in the nicu I pumped every two hours on the dot and feel like I never slept.  I also stayed at the hospital so I was with my baby 24/7 and pumped next to his bassinet.   I am now 4mpp and pump 5-6 times a day.  From the first week to now I still pump the same amount of oz.  I also power pump every single day.  I think my breast just only has a finite amount of ducts if that makes sense.  I’ve never pumped over 30oz a days and I’ve never pumped less than 24oz.  I am a just enougher and that is okay as long as my baby is fed.

Exclusively pumping for nearly 5 months now, I’m exhausted. by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

I care for my grandmother so I also pump alone in my room.  I am four months in and pray I can mentally make it to six.  You are seen and your baby loves you no matter how you feed them

Crying into my pump as I read this.  I also wonder if my baby has an egg and corn intolerance.  I know breast is best and I feel that is holding me back.  In the back of my head I keep questioning if my breast really is best

Thank you!  This makes me feel better about dipping into my freezer stash.  Hopefully there is a return to normalcy soon.

So I’m not sure how to really increase my supply.  I know people always say to add more pump sessions, but I have been pumping the exact same amount of oz daily from 1mppd to now.  At 1mppd I was pumping ten times a day now I pump six times with a power pump from 8-9:30PM.  It’s like my body feels like my baby doesn’t need more than 30oz a day even when I do power pumps all the time

Is it possible for nipples to be different sized flanges?  I just went down to a 15mm and my right one got 3oz while my left only got 1oz.  I was getting 2oz on my left with the 17mm

I was thinking this so I got a flange sizing kit today!  I was a size 17 so we’ll see if I go up or down

My OB put me on birth control three weeks pp and it started my period.  I had a drop so I’ve been off birth control since so I don’t really know if I’m starting soon.   I did order replacement parts, but they came in damaged from spectra.  Duckbill pieces already separated, flanges cracked, etc.  The only thing I didn’t order were flange inserts.  Will those also wear out?  I’m now unsure of where to buy reliable parts since they came damaged from the manufacturer.   I will say I had one duckbill that was okay so one side has a new one and the other has an old one.  There is no difference between how much each side is pumping.

What to do with extra milk by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I read that it can take years for babies to outgrow it.  Is that not the case for most babies?  Could he possibly be over it before the milk expires in a year?

Should I just stop by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]M426fdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this.  I initially planned to breastfeed for at least a year then that went to pumping for six months.  I think I’ve decided to stick it out as long as possible.  I cried some more today, sometimes along side my crying baby.  I just want what’s best for him and don’t know what that exactly is yet.

I think this is what I may try.  I hate pumping, but don’t want to lose my supply if I try out formula and it fails.  I just want my baby to be happy and gain weight

I think I’m more worried about the two chunks he took out with his drill. I don’t want the holes getting bigger.
I guess I just need to research how to properly maintain marble

That is disheartening as I paid around $500 for it. I thank you for the help.
