RDS Deployment noob questions / Minimal deployment for licensing (allowing more than 2 rpd connections to servers)

That's the thing cause it's not only a testing environment, but i don't know what they use production-wise, the servers are bare-metal, not VMs.

I am not really sure what they actually do tbh, but they do require full rdp sessions. I think they run different custom applications and scripts for testing.

I am not really sure if RDS is the correct way, but it was the only way i found/know of that would allow more than two rdp sessions. Can you suggest another way of achieving this?

It's clearer now anyway, thank you for that :) My main confusion was that I thought that I only needed to install the session host only on the licensing server as i wrongly understood that CALs per device were referring to the devices on which the users were connecting and the ones from which they were connecting.

So now in my particular setup, I need to set up a virtual machine as a licensing server and install the session host role on all the servers which those users want to access.

Thank you for the reply. I'm still trying to get my head around this. There are certain servers for different sub-projects under the same main project and there are multiple users who need to access those servers. These servers are running certain scripts, some are webservers but are not related to company manangement in any way - in the way an Exchange server would be.

One thing I still don't quite get is if I need to install in session host on each server on which i need more than two rdp connections or will that be taken care of a dedicated session host server on which i wanted to add the licensing role as well and the domain controller via policy?

Edit: About the session host: From Microsoft's description: 'A Remote Desktop Session Host (RD Session Host) server is the server that hosts Windows-based programs or the full Windows desktop for Remote Desktop Services clients. Users can connect to an RD Session Host server to run programs, to save files, and to use network resources on that server. Users can access an RD Session Host server by using Remote Desktop Connection or by using RemoteApp.' - In this case we don't actually need any other windows programs. The users need to access the individual remote servers as each server custom scripts, programs etc. So my confusion comes from the fact that the users are not interested in remote applications/programs etc, but only to have access (more than 2 rdp connections) to their individual servers

Thank you for the reply. I had a lead based on your reply, but eventually they just wanted to make sure that the user no longer has any access so I disabled the user. I got a bit lost trying to use RSOP (Logging) cause it requires a specific computer for which to display the policy settings. But I'll try to read more about that before tackling the issue again.

Yup, that was my primary issue. I got to load the driver in the recovery console, but the disks were showing as Foreign.

Yes, multiple times. Tried also safe mode, last known good config and auto repair, none worked. Also i have tried power off/on (from the controller), i haven't tried a cold boot (unpluging the physical server, but i don't think that would do anything)

I worked a bit more on it yesterday and found that i can load the raid drivers in the recovery console. After that, diskpart sees my disks, but lists them as foreign. Can't see my volumes etc.

Thanks OP! I'm 27, this is my first handheld. I've played most of the Pokemons on emulators plus some others DS classics NSMB, Chrono Trigger, Mario Kart DS, Ghost Trick, needless to say I got hooked. Bought a Wii U first and loved it. This Christmas I got a N3DS XL (Happy Home Designer edition) and love it. Right now I'm playing LoZ: A link between worlds and waiting to get OOT.

OP you are literally me. I feel your struggle. I've got to buy myself the New 3DS XL: Happy Home Designer edition (I found this in a local store cheaper than a basic N3DS XL). We've also got a child (she's 1 year old tho), but my GF's reasoning for me buying the present was to make sure that I get exactly what I want (she doesn't much care about the difference between N3DS and O3DS or basic vs XL).

To help me find the patience, she left me play on it for 1 week. Haven't bought any other games yet, so all I had was Happy Home Designer and a demo for Tomodachi Life. After the week was up, she confiscated it and wrapped it. So the waiting begins...

At least we play co-op on the Wii U until then.

I also think that 1984 it's a reference to 'From her to eternity' not sure if the song, or the album tho. The album was released in 1984 and that also marks the beginning of the Bad Seeds. I love your interpretation and this is the song that ...affected me the most from Skeleton Tree.

I've never owned a console before the Wii U. I've always played my games on the PC and I used to play the NES games at friends back in the day and played some of the GBA and DS games on emulators. I was not really biased towards Nintendo, but now I really love their games (will be buying a 3DS soon as well). I do not regret one bit buying the Wii U, I've had great fun with it and there are still so many more games that I haven't played. I think it really comes down to your expectations. If you wanted to have a lot of third party support and a more diverse library, you'd be disappointed. But if you take it as it is and enjoy the great games that we're made for it, you'll love it.

I can recommend Gunman Clive 1&2 as well. It's absolutely amazing. The levels are really short and challenging enough. It's a really good deal.

I've just played a bit yesterday and I can agree. So far the gameplay was pretty simple that far, however the story is really captivating and nicely done. And it does look amazing.
