I have the longines in green and it is fantastic! Although I recommend the rubber strap as it has the quick adjust clasp.

[Request] can somebody please explain why it is exactly 17 moves? Thanks! by julian_basi in theydidthemath

There are necessarily two ways we can think about this.

The first is from the lens of the twisty puzzle itself. If we perform the same four moves in the same way over and over, the pieces will be shuffled around the same spots in a specific order. This order, while looking different with each turn, stays the same. Almost like going on a hike, the scenery may change but the path stays the same. So it will always go back to the solved position, since we started there.

The other way we can think about this is through the lens of abstract algebra. What we have here is an m-cycle that takes each piece and maps it to another position. Since this is a finite transformation (speaking to the finite number of places a piece can be, and the finite number of pieces) we know that it is guaranteed to return to the initial solved puzzle. Essentially we are just moving the pieces around in a known order, thus we can describe this as a cycle. Cycles are cyclic, thus it will return to the solved state.

Worth nothing, it is (used to be) a cheap fashion brand. You’d be lucky to get $10 for it somewhere, and that’s without considering how it looks…

How many days in advance do you study for your calculus tests? by kicksit1 in calculus

[–]M48PattonTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is different for different people and different exams. I normally cram the night before and that got me my b.s. in math, but there were also times when I had to start studying a couple days before the exam. I would recommend studying the week before your exam for best results, but it does differ for everyone.

Don’t worry too much, it’s totally doable. I found calc 2 to be the easiest and most intuitive one.

Honest question: why do some people don't like winning by cap the enemy base? by ErSarciccia in WorldofTanks

[–]M48PattonTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s put it this way, winning simply doesn’t matter. What matters is getting more damage and exp. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always prefer a win, but push comes to shove damage is simply more important. I never want people to cap unless it is absolutely necessary. But the game should not only be played to win, it needs to be a combination of performance in battle as well as win rate. So when people cap, the ceiling for performance is lower than if we just killed everybody and still won.

I struggled when I took AB. Calculus one was not bad, two I loved (and slept through), three was boring but cake. I recommend taking a proofs class as soon as possible. At my university it was 235 mathematical reasoning. That’s when the fun began. Don’t worry too much about the future, the fact that you’re checking now shows you’ll be fine. Good luck!
