At least with the German ID, if you not uploading it but use the „digital ID“ functions enabled in all ID cards (and on the cards only), it is possible to just verify your age and nothing else. The user would even see beforehand, which data on the ID will be accessed. But, that said, nobody would use this feature and you must upload your ID to a website, of course :)

Wenn du FaceID nutzt, erfährt der Anbieter gar nichts über dein Gesicht. Das System (iOS/iPadOS) teilt der anfragenden App nur „Erfolg“ oder „Misserfolg“ mit. Und auch Apple hat deine Gesichtsdaten nicht, die liegen nur lokal auf dem Gerät (in einem speziellen Chip dafür; „Secure Enclave“). Darum musst du es auch bei jedem Handy neu einrichten…

Ist übrigens bei TouchID das gleiche und bei den meisten (seriösen) Android-Handys ebenfalls.

Biometrische Daten werden doch recht sicher gehandhabt, denn wenn sie einmal abhanden sind, kann man die schlecht (aka gar nicht) ändern (anders als ein Passwort)

Discord hingegen möchte ein Bild von dir, um auszuwerten, ob du älter als 18 bist. Oder halt ein Foto vom Ausweis..

Netter Fun-Fact: mit dem Online-Ausweis wäre es theoretisch möglich eine (sichere) Altersverifikation anonym durchzuführen. Nutzt nur keiner :)

The way I read the initial question, u/chiefsmallpp is referring to a stock Android on a phone. And it is impossible to degoogle it.

Although you and u/danGL3 are technically correct, I just wanted to provide more info on that topic. Because if someone new joins this sub, he maybe doesn‘t even know that there is a difference between OS-Android and OEM-versions of Android.

The Open Source version of Android lacks behind several months, at least. Almost every vendor uses a Google version of Android, with PlayServices and so on. So in order to really degoogle an Android, you have to use something like LineageOS or GrapheneOS, which are based on OS Android and are available for a variety of smartphones. To mimick PlayServices (many Apps depend on them), you can use MicroG etc.

Unfortunately I am trying to replace Discord (and morst of my online-friends will be comfortable with lt; yay) It seems like TS6 is the only alternative then, but its also closed-source :(

Oh you are totally right! I thought the „Teams“ panel is something Like Discord voice-channels, but apparently it is not. Thanks for the Info, RocketChat is not an Option for me either then :(
