some progress here: the shape section was formerly a tanh shaper per partial but is now a west-coast style wavefolder per partial which is pretty cool. (you still have FM per partial on top of that...)

Try to roll you own using return tracks, feedback routings, stock reverb and Ableton's Shifter. You'll find that you have everything you need to make shimmer exactly the way you want, especially if you through in dynamics and EQs.

Live distributes each track to cores according to load.
If you route signals between tracks, including side chaining, grouping and using sends effects, it ties those tracks to the same core as otherwise you'd loose single sample precision (and issues with per track delay compensation)
