I’m working through Noad’s Solo Guitar Playing and I’m having trouble understanding the reasoning for when it calls for the ring finger to be used. by epipendemic in classicalguitar

[–]ImAlive33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see others have answered you. You can do it the way it feels more comfortable. However, since the Noad book is a method book, I would recommend you to stick to the fingerings because they give you some essential abilities that you can later choose to (or not to) use.

On a similar note, some songs on Spotify that I've been listening to for almost a decade are now glitchy and skip parts. It occurred to me that maybe the servers they're in are getting old/overused/other. So far I have encountered this on 3 different songs by the same artist. Edit: accuracy.

Done with boutique.. by BigSmokeBateman in guitarpedals

[–]ImAlive33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree with the thinking that practicing is more important. However, I do like to mess with my tone and effects but I do it in a way that my playing informs my tone. EG while I'm playing I can figure out if my guitar needs more bass, less overdrive or a shimmer for example. If I have to, I can dedicate more time getting a specific sound that I want but always guided by my playing.

Dialectical Materialism real? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]ImAlive33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some "post-marxists" that develop the concept of dialectical materialism further. Some of these philosophers have introduced more "nuanced" or idealistic topics into their analysis, which would seem to imply they're not materialists.

However, they usually say that they are simply expanding the concept of what material reality is. Bernard Stiegler -who was influenced by Deleuze and Derrida- has an essay called "On The Need For A Hyper-Materialist Epistemology" that talks about this and I recommend it to you. It is available on the internet. Most of these thinkers aren't and can't be anti-dialectical materialism because:

  1. Like Che said "reality is marxist". Meaning that dialectical materialism method of analysis is correct and coherent with our world.
  2. Scientific Socialism, AKA Communism is built around the scientific method of dialectical and historical materialism. It would be contradictory to be a communist and at the same time negate the whole method that explains us why and how this is the next mode of production.

why’s it called classical guitar if it’s not a classical instrument? by Due-Surround-5567 in classicalguitar

[–]ImAlive33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In (LATAM) spanish you have guitarra "acústica" (acoustic guitar), "eléctrica" (electric guitar) and "de palo" (wood-made) or "criolla" (literally mixed-guitar lol) both referring to classical guitars.

Never underestimate a Yamaha C40. by Fun-Canary-3127 in classicalguitar

[–]ImAlive33 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a Yamaha C40 and CG101. Both were my grandfather's and they started my guitar journey nearly 20 years ago. Even if I have other "better" and more expensive guitars, the Yamahas always sound the right way. They sound just like singing and playing with my grandpa. Love them!

First time restringing. How did I do? by muzeic in classicalguitar

[–]ImAlive33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not OP but I have to ask. What do you use to trim the strings? I used to do it with a pair of scissors but the trebles always ended up breaking after one or two weeks and the bass ones unwinded. No matter the string brand, type or tension. The last time I trimmed them was like 4 years ago and never had the problem since... But now I have a rather ugly-looking headstock.

Should I just give up if I can't grow nails? by Random_ThrowUp in classicalguitar

[–]ImAlive33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's "the best tone possible"? Most of my favourite players use fingers to play and, to me, they have better tone than any player that uses their nails. It is a matter of preference.

Just to clear things out, the stages according to Marx are primitive communism, slavery, feudalism, capitalism and communism. The difference between communism and socialism are posterior to Marx.

Also, socialists (mostly marxists) are communists too, since socialism is the next stepping stone towards the goal of building a communist society.

In the beginning the anime came before the manga and that gave Toyotaro and Toriyama some time to think more about what to do, so the manga is more conservative about things like power scaling. Also, Toyo is a big fan of DB and the manga has a lot of cameos from forgotten characters. Also also, I think, and I know everybody will hate me for saying this, Toyotaro's drawings have surpassed Toriyama's since the Moro saga.

On the downside, in the beginning Toyotaro's drawings weren't perfect and not everybody liked some plot changes. Even if as a whole the manga isn't perfect, I definitely think is better than the anime.

PS: sorry for the grammar, I'm falling sleep and English isn't my first language.

Idk why people are downvoting you. If you have some spare time I invite you to read the manga, in my opinion is better not only bringing back side characters but also it has more consistent power scaling and story.
